It usually means your car is sitting on the lot outside the factory (or some other intermediary location). 4 codes are shipping codes if I remember right.
I just received word that the C7 Z51 convertible I ordered and that was produced last week is "Bayed," the code for which is 4B00.
I'd be interested in hearing the possible explanations for this. It has certainly chilled my enthusiasm.
If I remember correctly, one reason for the Bayed code is that they are waiting to fill up a car carrier that is coming out your way. If purchasing from a volume dealer, it doesn't take very long to fill up the car carrier, even if not from a volume dealer it could be two cars for one dealership, a single car for another dealership on the way and so on until the car carrier is full.

This is my understanding as well. Given where yours is being shipped, I can't imagine it will be in that state for long.
Here's how MacMulkin's website defines it: 4B00 – Bayed: At this status, your Corvette has been parked in the back storage lot of the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant and is waiting to be loaded on to a carrier.

Thanks all. I was familiar with all the codes from Zymurgy's sticky above the General section. "Bayed" sounds more like it's waiting for "extra attention" for an issue identified in QC. I would have thought 4000 "available to ship" was the more appropriate category.
It's coming to "big dog dealer" Criswell, and Mike Furman has said he's waiting for a boatload of cars, so I wouldn't think filling up a truck would be any problem at all. At any rate, Mike's on it, but I thought I would sample other experiences here.
Mike's prediction is Feb 5-9. He's been in touch with the plant, and was told the bad January weather across 2/3 of the US has backed up the transportation system.
I think you were lucky w/ the relatively mild December weather.
All 3 of my C7s were delivered to me within about two weeks from the day they were built, and 2 of these cars were December builds. All of them ordered from small dealers in Wis.
I would not be surprised if Jack Cooper transport has a longstanding internal memo to get Criswells Vettes loaded and delivered ASAP.
A little bird messaged me that it may have something to do with the big lot of Sebring Orange cars built the week of 1/15. Almost no orange cars have been delivered yet, except one we saw at Kerbeck and one at MacMulkin.
This one looks like it will be at least 3 weeks from build to delivery. I think the major reason for my "angst" is that I'm trading a "perfect" 2014 C7 for an unknown commodity and thinking I need to have my head examined.
MChar,
Sure, stop by, but that helmet was retired about 6 years ago.
No News on the Z and it was 65 degrees in Texas today !! It was above freezing in Bowling Green so my dealer is acting ignorant about the whole situation. Not Unexpected !!!
