So for a owner without a GS or Z06 are the GM factory flaps ok?

I believe they will work to some extent, however side skirts really protect the sides of your C7. You may want to look into them if you like the looks.
Totally personal preference, however I feel side skirts elevate the looks of a Stingray while protecting it at the same time.

Where I live would not drive any C7 without splash guards and side skirts. Can here the pebbles hitting the underside of my full length side skirts on my Grand Sport every time I drive. Like my Z51 before, which also had full length side skirts, it sounds like a tambourine when I pass over but they only hit the skirt bottom, not a mark above or on my rear fender brake ducts!

As far as aesthetics, “form follows function,” so to me they look great!

From a never grumpy “old man!”

^^^
FWIW, I posted a close-up of the GM rear Splash Guards I had on my 2014, removed when I sold it and installed on my Grand Sport. Look the same in that close-up pic as they would on a narrow body C7.
