Has anyone else had issue with the leather covering on the dash shrinking? Mine has shrink around the front of the windshield defroster by an inch.

Do you have a C6 4lt? This is common for this trim level, unfortunately. I've not heard any problems with the C7 and dash delamination.

If so, then the mods can move this to the proper forum, if not, then a lot of us just got very worried.

 

I believe there's several treads here regarding this issue if you search. If memory serves it's more associated the 3LT trim level.

Again, if memory serves the condition has been covered under warranty, however taking out the dash is quite a job.

No problem with my 2014 kalahari 3LT. It never sits outside without a sunshade.

My buddy bought a "left over" 2016 last year and the leather at the dash also had shrunk as you describe. It had to be corrected....it was done under warranty and now looks great. Here is a photo of the car....OH...the stripe down the hood on this option also was crooked from the factory....the dealer in Atlanta replaced it and IT WAS STILL CROOKED. Had to be done a third time to get it right. I forgot....the windshield was also cracked in one of the upper corners...a faulty backing of some sort. That also had to be fixed under warranty.

 

So, without telling a novel, here's my story:

In July I bought a 2014 C7 3LT with 20K miles. Guy that owned it was the general manager at a chevy dealer. Pretty sure it sat outside everyday. The day I bought it I noticed the dashboard was warped. The leather had this zig zag patten from the driver side all way to passenger side. The door panels and center arm rest also had this leather warping. Car was outside of the bumper-to-bumper, but I tried GM anyways. I was basically told to go fly a kite. It looked like straight up **** and the dealership told me it was "normal". I did a lot of research and someone along the way said that 2016+ they changed the glue or something during the manufacturing process.

I bought a 2017 GS and did not want the 3LT because of the leather problems I had with my 14 Z51, but the collector edition only comes 3LT. So far it looks fine but only had it since November and spends its life in the garage, not baking in the sun everyday.

I think the sun is the culprit and if you have to park outside a lot, I would get a sunshade because this real leather on the 3LT seems to "melt" and deform. If you are within warranty or bought an extended, I would see the dealer. If not, tough luck and a new dashboard is about $900 not including installation which appears to be a nightmare.

 

Never an issue with a 1lz!

 

I had my dash pad replaced on my 3LT. Shrinking around the vents and the leather delaminated above the airbag. The second dealer I took it to replaced it under warranty, no problem.

 

Same here with my 14 3LT Kalahari. It's a vert and I live in LA, so the top's down a lot.
