How do I TURN OFF auto door lock when car starts to move??
2018 2LZ M7
I have read everything and cant seem to be able to TURN OFF the auto locking of the doors once the car reaches 2 - 3 mph.
I am not referring to when I park or leave the car, but when I start to drive the car the doors lock.
Advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Bob

I don't think you can. Maybe someone will come up with a magic answer.

No can do.

Straight from the manual.

Automatic Door Locks
The doors will lock automatically
when all doors are closed, the
ignition is on, and the shift lever is
moved out of P (Park) for automatic
transmissions, or when vehicle
speed becomes faster than 13 km/h
(8 mph) for manual transmissions.
If a vehicle door is unlocked and
then opened and closed, the doors
will lock either when your foot is
removed from the brake or the
vehicle speed becomes faster than
13 km/h (8 mph).

To unlock the doors:
. Press unlock on a power door lock
switch.
. For an automatic transmission,
shift into P (Park).
. For a manual transmission, turn
the vehicle off when parked.

Automatic door locking cannot be
disabled.
Automatic door unlocking
can be programmed. See Vehicle
Personalization.

It's a safety feature, so the door does not fly open when you accidentally hit the door open button with your hand or leg when the car is moving.

Yup. You can't do it. I researched this when I got the car.

On my 04 SSR there was a procedure outlined in the service manuals to defeat the auto lock. It involved a convoluted sequence of cycling the turn signal lever and the ignition key.

If someone has a C7 service manual ( not the owners manual ) they could look and see if it is still possible to defeat.

My question would be why would you want to?

When you come in your driveway, the passenger can get out without you having to shift in to park. Then you proceed into the garage.

Of course the passenger could use the floor lever to open the door without putting it in park.

the best reason is it is protocol on track so that safety personnel can remove you in case of an accident and you are unconscious

I just press the unlock button on my door. Then the wife gets out so I can park in the garage. Works just fine. This doesn't work with an auto?

What's "park"? The guy has an M7. Can't you just hit the unlock button? Even in an A8?

Is this a typo or does the manual contradict itself?

^^^^^^

Under Vehicle Personalization in manual

Auto Door Unlock
This allows selection of which of the
doors will automatically unlock when
the vehicle is shifted into P (Park)
with an automatic transmission or
when the vehicle is turned off with a
manual transmission.
Select Off, All Doors, or Driver Door.

There is no contradiction. One is door LOCKING, one is door UNLOCKING.

I think the confusion stems from the fact that as long as you have a recognized fob, the doors will unlock when pressing the door pad. No way to disable this. The programming involves how and which doors automatically will unlock.

It's not (at this point talking) about passive door locking, AKA "auto lock" (which can be programmed). Rather, it's talking about automatically locking when driving off.
