Default Hood Liner (insulation) peeling off

Has anyone had this issue. The car has been put away since Nov, of 2017 we had a nice 75 degree day and when I came back from taking it for a ride and spring cleaning this is what I found (see pictures). Th black is peeling off the hood liner. there were no pieces on top of the engine...not a mouse as it is not chewed up.....Just wondering if anyone else has seen this....

My '16 did the same thing. I figured it was one of those furry rodents, so I bought a used one from a forum member. Now I wonder if I was wrong. Maybe check your dealer to see if they will replace it under warranty. Good luck.

Yeah, that looks like motor rats looking for some warmth. Hope it's something else but that's what my hood liner looked like in my old truck (parked outside) and it was definitely rats.

Look on top of the motor for tale-tell signs of rats. You know, like rat turds. Got any of those?

Mice are hauling that off and building a nest somewhere in your car or garage would be my guess.

My '16 Stingray has not had that problem but, it seems to be a poor material choice or design by GM. I had white/chalky water stains and cleaning seemed degrade the material. It is a fabric laid over some type of insulation. Other CF posts suggest cleaning with normal soap and water and painting and covering with Scotchgard. I did all that and it looks 100% better but not good enough. I ordered a new liner from Newautoparts.com for approx $120 shipped. It looks like new but new is not good enough. I am making my own hood liner out of acrylic or Lexan that info is in another CF post under C7 technical forum. good luck

It's just sound insulation. Pop it off and toss it in the trash.

Problem solved.

The only thing I ever used was a soft bristled brush to get dust off no kind of liquids at all....Once the weather warms up again I will take it back to the dealer it will not be a yearold till March 7th....
