I'm trading my 2015 Z51 2LT M7 in on a 2019 Z06 2LZ M7 same colors etc. as the 2015, but no PDR. I have it now and have not used it -no need to convince me that I do need it .
I do use the navigation, but am I correct that I can use my iPhone via Apple CarPlay for navigation instead and always have current maps etc.?
Thanks, but here's my dumb question -does it display on the screen like factory navigation?
Yes, shows up on the screen just like the factory one does. Actually works much better and is always current. Just make sure you have the waypoint in if youre going to an area with no cell coverage

Yep-BUT!
It does require a connection to a cell tower. In our rural area that is NOT guaranteed so I also have my GPS mounted in the Cubby, Just in Case! I have set both when I'm leaving for destination unknown and if a cell phone issue I just lower the screen! It plugs into the USB in the Cubby.
In addition you will miss the display on HUD but no big deal. I actually like the CarPlay display on the screen better than my 3LT 2014 NAV.

Apple Car play sucks because Apple Maps will not show SPEED LIMIT unless you have a destination programed in....unlike my Honda Accord that shows speed limit on map screen all the time. You would think Apple would have the best but I guess not!
What has your testing revealed to you? I took the 20 seconds to type "does carplay display on my 2019 corvette screen" into Google and managed to find https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oe3xv15yqk. My question to you is why couldn't you have done that?
Teaching iGuys to fish...
Understood, I guess I just just like corresponding with forum members
Yep, agree often that is useful but if you want good answers directly related to a C7, the Forum is often better that sorting through the useful and useless "stuff" on the net!
In addition, I like to fish but always throw them back! Prefer to eat fish with no bones prepared properly in a resultant!
Both the 11 1/2 and 12 pound Large Mouth Bass went back in the Lake (caught from my dock with 10 lb test line on ultralight spinning rod as I mostly catch 2 to 3 pound fish! Note water in bottom left pic-that was a few months before the dam broke!) Unfortunately the dam broke last year (pic upper right shows what you can do with used Vette tires to make a fish habitat!) Currently Chair the volunteer Lake home owners committee who found the needed "Dam Engineer," local soil engineering firm then went out for bids and hired the contractor who is now 1/2 way finished with the repair. Real PIA when DHEC gets involved!

I prefer the built in nav, as CarPlay requires connecting via USB and while it does display on the car's screen, it requires a cell signal, which can be an issue in some areas, and IMO moving in and out of it and the infotainment system is not as streamlined as with the factory nav.
'My C7 was built without the factory nav (RPO I05), so I tried Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze and the useless OnStar "turn by turn" options. After experimenting with them for a month and a half, I swapped in the RPO I06 navigation HMI, and despite dealing with the brain dead onboard bimbo when using voice activation, it is simply less hassle to use and provides the information I want.

She lasted about 1 trip on the navigation system. I have her sitting in the corner with duct tape over her mouth. Getting told to do a U-Turn 500 times is a bit on the nagging side!

I don't know if Apple Maps has a similar function, but Google Maps has the option to pre-cache map regions. I went to the Caribbean recently and I pre-downloaded the maps while I was at home on wifi. Once we were at sea and on the islands, I didn't have data service at all. But I was still able to use my maps without a problem. I don't think you can use turn by turn nav like this, but at least you'll have an accurate map and GPS to work with.
