I wave and get one back about 75% of the time. The most aggressive wavers seem to be younger guys - especially those also driving a C7. I also have a Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Wave is about 90% - something Jeepers take serious.
It's funny, my two main vehicles are a Corvette and a Jeep Wrangler...two owners groups that wave at each other. They funny thing is when I'm in the Vette and, w/o thinking, wave at a Jeep...or vice-versa. That gets some interesting looks on occasion.
I wave at other Vettes, even when I’m not in mine. My wife laughs at me, but it’s a hard habit to break.
I wave all the time when I see another Corvette. Been doing it since I've owned my C4 in 2000 in Saudi Arabia. Didn't get many waves there! Not that many Corvette's. I would say the majority of other owner's do wave back both here in Illinois and in Canada where I lived.
Of course "the wave"... Been around since 1950's post war... began with MG and Jag's... taken up by the high roller Corvette guys and thankfully continues in today's world!... Save the wave!
I'm a car guy.... have waved at other cars since I started driving P-cars in the '60s. Exchanged waves with guys in C6s and C7s today. I was in my 32-year-old 328 GTB Ferrari.
As a new and first time Corvette owner, I have noticed something: most of the time, when I am driving my Z06 and a Corvette is coming toward me from the opposite direction, the driver waves at me. I wave back, naturally, and I'm guessing that this is sort of a "we've got the car of our dreams" kind of thing that we are all acknowledging with "the wave."
So, is this a real thing, or am I just imagining it? I qualified my observation by saying "most of the time," because, for example, the other day a Corvette was approaching me, so I waved, but the guy driving did not wave back. Consequently, I guess not all Corvette owners participate in this ritual of ownership.
Are you a part of this "Corvette brotherhood?" Do you wave at other Vettes as you cross paths?
Thoughts?
Yes I do and before every function / drive with our group we point it out and have the print out for those that do not know about it.
