I've started using my SD card slot to play music from personal library. So much for progress. Thanks for your input.
I have rebooted the phone with it plugged in but not necessary and haven't ever noted having to unlock the phone prior to use (following reboot). I never unlock the phone before routinely plugging in the USB cable. Part of this is because the phone is "paired" to the vehicle, that is you authorized the device to connect with the MyLink system the 1st time you connected it.

One persistent bug with AA is that at times, the phone will display a "red screen" error after unplugging it from the car. Typically this would be because the time on the car system is off but not the case for me so at a loss as to what's causing it. This is usually my cue to reboot the phone. Another wonky issue is sometimes the phone won't connect (i.e. the AA icon showing up to replace the projection icon) and haven't found a smoking gun on what's causing that either.

Android Auto (along with Apple CarPlay) is a relatively new system that is thankfully constantly being updated. My problem is the GM MyLink system isn't which I believe is the source of many of the problems.

One of the BIGGEST reasons I was hesitant to go from my C6 to the C7 was the level of integration the MyLink (and HMI) has with the rest of the car. In the C6 if there was a new function out there like AA, swap out the head unit and you're good to go and most aftermarket manufacturers like Pioneer or Alpine update their models for functionality and stability. Not so with GM's crap. In the C7 if you want new (to GM) functionality, they resist supporting systems to "encourage" buying a new vehicle. I understand it, sell more new cars- doesn't mean I like or agree with it and GM historically has been the worst in the industry with lagging in tech and stranding customers. I am a GM fan (hell, all 4 vehicles in the household currently are Chevys) but this has been my biggest gripe with them for years.

I got mine Thursday, and used it on the drive home from work Friday. I also used it while I was making a video today. It seems to work great

Thanks Alen for your input. I usually don't go for new stuff giving time to work out the kinks. Since AA was incl. Why not use it. GM seems to be lacking in software upgrades. To your case in point, I ordered the 2018 Nav map update only to find out its about a year behind. Hence my reason for using Waze, and an update won't cost $149. Ouch!! OR
maybe it by design. If AA were a perfect app, then GM would probably be out of the Nav update business. Hmmm!
