Default NAV question

After a bit of a struggle, I found that I could change the "State" by using the verbal commands. Is there an easier way of changing the State to put in an address?

I put the entire address and State by typing in the destination but the NAV was a prig and kept looking in Florida.

When I used the verbal commands, I changed the State to SC and then gave the address and the NAV nailed it. Typing in a long address is a PITA.

No other ways I know of Elmer. The two ways you are using is the only ways I can do it on the cars I have with Nav. I just use the verbal commands.

Use Android Auto, much easier.

I know a lot of people hate OnStar but if you have the Directions and Connections service you can either ask OnStar to send the address to the Nav. Or using the mobile app, type it in your phone and send it to the Nav.

The fact that the factory nav has access to GPS yet doesn't already know what state you are in is amazingly... foolish!

I use AA. Not a problem anymore. Way, way, way better.

I normally use the My Chevrolet app Navigation "send to vehicle" feature.
It lets you search the address on your phone, either voice or typing it in, then choosing the Send to in-Dash Navigation.
the nice thing about the app is it appears to use google maps and you can search for points of interest much easier.
It also integrates with your contacts , now if' they'd add an integration to the calendar, it would be ideal

Android Auto already does all of that and in the car as well. The voice recognition is fantastic. Integrates with you calendar, etc. Plus if you just go to Google Maps on the web and search for a place it'll show up in AA by default. Or if you are going to multiple places you can plan out a route on GM on the web and send it to your phone or send the individual stops to your phone and you'll have a list of destinations to places as notifications that you can simply tap and drive. Highly recommended

Oh and AA is great on vettes 2016 and up where it can play on the big screen but even 2014 and 2015 vettes can use AA in on the phone mode only.

Just curious, is there a difference in the way the 2014 and 2016 NAV units work ?
With my 2016 I've never had to type a Complete address in.
As soon as I start typing in the State, a suggestion shows up related to the letters I start to type in.
Then I pick from the list and it fills it in.
Same with putting in the City, Street etc

Nope, 14s don't help you one bit. KEEP TYPING! After I type the entire thing and say "How's that?" It considers, offers some choices or tells me to go suck an egg and try to type it better or something.

I gave up on trying to talk to the navigation system and just use the phone app which is free for 5 years.
