Default Transparent Top

I recently picked up a new Grand Sport from the museum and drove back to Seattle.

Love the car but it has the transparent top and it does get a little warm on my bald head. Whoo, sunscreen and hat days.

Question. Are all suction cup head liners the same ? Do you have a preference in liners ?

The shade I bought on Amazon has 14 suction cups and effectively blocks the sunlight through the roof... The suction cups REALLY stick to the roof and require a bit of finesse to "unstick" them.
Its main downside is that it is too stiff to roll up, requiring it to be stored in its full size. Maneuvering it in the limited passenger compartment space, and storing it in the cargo area has its own learning curve..

One of the Corvette vendors sells a product that static clings to the top and has thousands of holes in it. Does a great job of reducing heat, yet you can still see light through it, plus obviously doesn't change head room any. I live in So Cal and it works great for me.

I have the suction cup version (from my C6) which fits the C7 perfectly.

Having said that, I've only used it once in my C6 and never yet in the new car.

I used this product on C3 T-tops and it worked as advertised. I have both tops for the C7 so I just swap them out seasonally.

I literally just installed this one yesterday. Super easy and stays attached. Cabin cools off quicker and although not scientific, I think it’s somewhat quieter with it. Slight bit of headroom loss if you’re tall tho.

I bought a static cling shade. I works well. It is perforated vinyl and can be removed and reinstalled if need be. The suction cup shades are ugly. You can see the suction cups through the glass. I think I ordered mine from Corvette Mods.

It is not easy seeing the suction cups unless you are out to specifically look for them and at the right lighting and angle. My transparent roof looks solid black. And why I went with the transparent roof on my LBR in the first place.

Agreed, the suction cups are not easy to see at all. The thing works as advertised, especially in this 100 degree heat we’ve been having. At night the sucker comes off in 30 seconds. No regrets whatsoever about buying.

Just my .02.
I ended up wrapping the transparent top semi-gloss black. I like the transparent top - great contrast over the base color, but that heat kicked my butt. Cool thing about the wrap (besides cutting down on the heat), is that during the day I can just barely see the sun through the wrap. Great effect. The moon...well, almost. XD
Another great effect is the reflection off the interior of the top from the inside. At night, very cool. I also had the spears done torch red (my base color). As for my torch red top, I did black spears.

I’m planning on getting a painted CF top soon. Could you post a pic of the red with black spears you have? I’d like to see that look. Thanks.

Well, I'm not running that top, so, here's a picture with it hanging on the wall. I'm running the black top during these beautiful days and nights. I'll put the red back on eventually for a change of pace.

I bought a used but mint trans top about a year ago knowing full-well it would not be ideal for summers in S. LA. It certainly isn't, so the painted top goes on Apr. 1st and the trans top on Oct. 1st, and that works well for me. Buying used at a good price gives me confidence that I can re-sell at or near what I paid for it, so I don't consider it an idle purchase.

I also have the amazon $99 model, it makes me LOVE my car much much more. I was getting annoyed with the heat inside and the constant sunburn from the heat above. Best $99 ive spent on this car to date. Must have for any transparent top owner.
