Had an evening event in NYC last night and parked at a garage on 59th near third- Im sure they see plenty of cars and the valet was initially quite excited and i thought he was just cruising for an extra tip which i was going for anyway. Told me he'd leave the car up near the entrance rather than down in the bowels of the building. When I came back he ran up to me again told me how much he loved the car (it seemed pretty real and he wasnt the one getting the tip now) and he then tells me so many people took pictures with it or selfies and he'd never seen that before. Im sure they see quite a few cars there and was quite surprised by the reaction. Ive never had that with carreras or the jag. He was literally giddy when it was cold started when i cam to pick it up. BTW thats really sweet in a resonant garage
Definitely seems like the C7 gets "front row" treatment from valets in my experience too! I've had good luck with valets at various restaurants, hotels, casinos, etc. I do use valet mode.
But yes, in most locations, a Corvette will qualify as nice enough to be parked "up front", and I usually tip for and request that service if possible.
I’ve been driving these cars into the city for years. They see many different exotics- I was at the d and d building and I can assure you there are some high end cars pulling in. This was the first time in the 25 years I’ve had serious cars that I’ve had this response in the s city. In the 90/s i has a new sl with my md plates (md 66660) randomly assigned by dmv. The attendant refused to park the car because it had the devils number on it!
I choose which car I drive to dinner based on the parking situation, and I am not above scoping out the parking lots of new (to me) dinner spots using Google Satellite images before I go.
Range thats an issue in NYC- actually if you snag a spot on the street its far more dangerous- touch parking very popular as well as double parked trucks and cars forcing people to squeeze by your car and take off your mirror- Not to mention people spitting on it as they walk by!
Re cleaning the car- I had it washed at my local hand wash (heresy #3) and when I got home rejexed it. Way too many angles vents and contortions. This car is a PIA to wash- the carrera was the easiest car to wash!
