several years ago I was stopped for doing a bit over the 60MPH speed limit - in a rush to meet someone - stopped gave him my story - he said he would put it at 20mph over so he would not have to take me to jail -
so I stopped that. but again was not trying just lost track and in a rush
I'm headed to Dalzell, SC to see my youngest 7/20 from Albany, NY I-81 to I-77. Any thoughts.
I have had a radar "incedent" in VA before, trooper took down the serial number and gave it back, 20 years ago
the trooper just confiscated it.
Any new hot spots and what are the undercover cars in VA and NC along I-77?
I'm amazed nobody has recommended downloading the app Waze and running it though VA at the least. On a route as heavily trafficked as that there will be plenty of people running it and therefore a ton of heads-up time as long as you run with a group (don't be a rabbit). Some people don't like waze but it's really dependent on the number of users contributing to it, and I-95 is VERY popular. I was able to save quite a bit of time on I-81 from Charlottesville all the way south into NC because there were enough people out on the road that day, and we safely passed 3 traps along the way at exactly 65mph.

Hey now !! Watch your keyboard !
My screen name on Waze is Rabbit_Man !
I kind of like being the rabbit, then slowing down when KA screeches and letting everyone else get tickets instant on is still a hearth attack in waiting even when you see them coming...

I totally agree. 100%.
I just don't have time to wait around for someone else to be the rabbit, and over the years, I've learned that I'm better at avoiding the law if no one is in my way.
On another note. I've been investigating thermal imaging cameras for nighttime driving. It seems like after dark is the only time I get peeled by instant on. Expensive stuff, and certainly not for everyone; of course driving 1260 miles in 14.5 hours isn't for everyone either.

That's a great Idea. But I don't think the Home Depot cameras for looking into walls will work at a 1/4 mile.
It could be the future. One of them can sence a ":Small Car" from 800 + yards.
But $ 2,900. is out of my market. If I were in my 20's again it would have paid for itself in 2-3 years.

Yeah not cheap. I already run an r3, jammers, an ipad with Waze, CB, and a handheld scanner.
I don't know. I'm still kicking the idea around. My ALP jammer with a few extras was almost 2500 bucks, so this idea isn't way out of this world. Obviously, I will be pioneering the use of thermal imaging for this application, (as far as I know) but an idling engine sitting in the median should be easy to spot. One of those cameras has a range of a mile, and I like the way that sounds. Even if this sort of solves the instant on problem, the number one issue will always be catching up to a moving police car at night. I don't think there will ever be a good solution for that.

Just because you are doing 20+ over in VA doesnt necessarily mean a reckless driving ticket. Depending on the officer/trooper time of day etc it could just be a speeding ticket and you just pay the fine according to your speed. reckless and speeding are 2 different traffic codes

WAZE is definitely a good tool to use when going through states that ban radar detectors. Not 100% accurate but definitely better than nothing.

You forgot whether or not he got laid the night before.
Just tell him you are illegal and that's why he stopped you. or
Go to CA, buy a birth certificate from Mexico, get a drivers license, - presto problem solved.
Here they don't care , almost hit by a Rice burner going 30+ limit as I was cruising 5 over in the right lane. He flew right through the radar trap, RD went off and cop was behind a bush - never moved.
A few miles down the road a mini- van was pulled over... got to love it … the rice burner bikes are the worst - over 100, weaving and no one chases or stops them. I guess they wait for a crash....
How are you gong to view the display? It's a monocular.
Im going to have to have a display in the car. Several of those products have video output jacks, so all that needs to be done is connect it properly to a monitor. I don't have all the details sorted out yet.

Most DA's in NY allow your to plea down to a parking vio
That is only true outside of NYC. In NYC, it has its own traffic courts, and there is no DA - just the citing officer and the Judge. The officer, unlike a DA, has no say in the disposition of the ticket. From what I have seen, unless you can prove the radar or laser unit was broken, you might as well just pay that ticket by mail instead of going to court as the Judge will find you guilty 100% of the time (it is just a money mill) - if it is an observed speed offense, you might have a shot at a reduction.
Depends where you live. In Atlanta, thats considered a superspeeder automatic $200 on top and license suspension. Easily removed in court though as long as your just pay lol
Are they still pretending that's a thing? No one drives the speed limit in Atlanta, hell, they barely stop for red lights.
