Frustrated...
So June 7th I drove my car into work with the convertible top down. Get to work, park, and put the top up and right as it's almost closed, the passenger side just starts dumping hydraulic fluid all in the passenger seat. Luckily I had towels with me, so I was able to get it cleaned up right away.
That morning, I called the a local Chevy dealer, and got an appointment to bring it in. Brought the car to them on the 12th, and they verified that the passenger fluid line had gotten pinched, and they'd replace under warranty. (Car is CPO with only 8000 miles.) No problem. They say it'll take 3-5 days to get the part. That stinks, but okay.
I didn't hear anything the entire following week. So I decide to call, on the 23rd, and try to get an update. Still no part, and no ETA.
So I call on July 3rd, asking for an update. Tell the guy it's been 3 weeks and I still haven't heard anything from them. He puts me on hold, comes back a minute later and said they got the part last week, they just neglected to call me. Set up a new appointment, and drop the car off yesterday morning, July 5th, at 7am. Ask for an ETA, and the guy tells me he thinks it might take about 3 hours. Luckily, they had no problem giving me a loaner.
At 12:30pm yesterday afternoon, I call for a status update. Guy explains that it's a little more difficult than he thought, and they'd be lucky to get done with it by the end of the day. He calls me back at 4pm to let me know that the smaller hydraulic line on the same side also needs to be replaced, and he's having the part over-nighted from GM. So I should get my car today, the 6th.
He called a couple hours ago to let me know that GM canceled the overnight order, and is shipping the part regularly, from Michigan. Should be here Tuesday. In the meantime, he assures me that most of the top is disassembled, so they'll be able to get that line in there on Tuesday and get me my car back.
I might be being a baby. But this whole thing has left a sour taste in my mouth. Sure seems like communication, at the very least, could be vastly improved. Not real happy with letting my car sit, torn apart, in the shop all weekend either. Just came here to vent and commiserate...
Thanks for listening.
Something to keep in mind for future service needs, though.
Vote w/ your wallet.
Why in the world isn't a 'power' top an option.
Those willing to hoist their own top know they avoid this kind of crap, why they prefer the 'inconvenience' of a manual.
G/L, they'll eventually get it back & a decision whether to use 'em again or not made then.
Chevrolet needs to get a handle on their franchises, sales and service, or by their own hand face an uncertain future.

One, they got the part in then forgot to call you? Strike one.
Then they figure out after already inspecting and determining the problem that something else related needs to be replaced? Should have been caught the first time. Strike Two.
Then they end up having to wait for the part while your car is torn up sitting in their shop. Strike three.
Three screw ups on a relatively minor job is more than enough reason to be pissed, imo.
Love the cars Chevy makes, but the service honestly turns me off from the brand and I have to really want a vehicle to stop in their showroom.

Complaining about a Corvette repair under warranty taking longer than expected comes under First World Problems.
Love the look of the convertible when the top is down but also love the coupe when the top is up.The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
OP might consider using another dealer if possible also, warranty or not.
So what's you opinion of this?
What'd you have to say if it happened to you?

Man, I'd be sick if my convertible does that number. So, I need to carry several cotton towels just in case. That sucks, man. Sorry for your car's difficulties.

In 20 years, I've not had to take a vehicle back to the dealer for warranty repairs. However, I just had a transmission replaced, under warranty, on my daily driver two weeks ago. The top on my Vette consumed itself one month ago. So maybe these two things together made me more frustrated than I should be. Or maybe the fact that the dealers made me feel like I was lucky it was covered under warranty made me frustrated. Or maybe because I have a relatively expensive convertible that has been rendered a coupe during the time I would most enjoy the convertible. One month for a hydraulic line? Please.
So yes, it's a first world problem. And I came to vent, not to throw the dealer under the bus. If they make it like new, I'll be happy and let them know. And I'll take my communication issues up with them after the service has been performed.
Leave it til its pefect, dont pick it up til you inspect the car that its truly clean, works right etc. Its still warrantied but who knows.
Think customer service on most American cars is horrible....go to a Lexus MB dealer totally different story. Have seen people buy cars they arent even crazy about because the service is stellar.
