You've got to be a contortionist to get in and out of these things anyway. My method is butt first, then swivel right, with right knee UNDER the steering wheel because I'll never get in otherwise. Getting out is even worse. I need a ladder.
is it just me, or does anyone else here find that they hit the trunk release latch getting into the car. I swear about 1/3 - 1/2 the time I get into the car my knee hits the button and pops the hatch 😡. I really wish it was located somewhere else
Disable it or unplug it from behind the dash and just use your key fob to open the hatch possibly?
I have the opposite problem. I tend to hit in when I'm getting OUT of the car. The thing I have going for me is that I'm already out. However, I do get tired of pretending I meant to get something out of the trunk.
I have considered disconnecting the switch but it seems I'm doing it less and less as time goes on.
I manage to hit it every once in awhile. Poor location for the switch, IMHO.
I plan to make a raised cover around the button which will take care of the issue.
It's fun to watch, I'll tell you that. But once he is in all is good! Those seats he had made have very expensive thin padding in them. Fits him like a glove. I drove from Miami Beach to Lake Havasu with him and he did better than I did in the passenger seat. I don't like riding shot gun. Not enough room.
When I first moved to this area one of Michael Jordan's distant relatives was a state trooper assigned to the district and he was constructed like his famous relative. He was assigned to a Mustang 5.0 "chase" vehicle and one friend said it would be worth getting pulled over just to watch him get in and out of that car. I saw him making a stop one morning and when he was extracting himself from the car he looked like one of those articulating ladders that was being sold on TV at the time
I am 6'2" and during the first week of ownership of my Z06 I bumped into that button a couple of times but now consciously avoid it. I agree it was poor design implementation and has bothered enough people that it should have been caught during design. Apparently GM largely relied upon the Wizard of Oz Munchkins when testing this part of the interior design.
I believe from earlier discussions, the 1LT hatch release button is a different size than 2LT/3LT levels. Perhaps that contributes to the disparity of responses.
One of the benefits of being only 5'7" is that my knee never comes close to hitting that button by mistake
I'm 5'10" and also have never hit the switch, now on my second C7. I also don't use the easy exit feature anymore because of the parking brake requirement on the M7, but I don't need it. The switch/knee issues may be more a factor of leg length rather than overall height.
I have tried to hit the release with my knee and I can't do it..
It amazes me how some say they hit it all the time...
I sit sideways over into the seat, and swing my legs in one at a time... I usually have to guide my left leg in because my back is getting so bad, but have never hit the release.
I am tall, so my seat is pretty much all the way back, and I never use the memory function to move it.

Everyone has a unique body build and flexibility difference. I believe that has a lot to do with it.
