They may do some of the same things, performancewise, but the C7 wins in cachet, WOW factor, and class.
The Mustangs are as numerous as flies, whereas the new Corvettes are a lot more of a rare sighting, at least everywhere I drive in Texas.
That's why I will still put mustang on the list, but my mustang is not a GT and doesn't worth to spent that much of money on the shell. I think I make my decisions

I'd stay away from the 2018 Mustang GT. Head over to some of their forums and read about the new manual gear box blowing shift linkages. Already a TSB and on it's way to a recall. Guys are snapping linkage going from second to third and third to fourth. There are also "engine ticking noises" that are being caused by "piston slap". They compare it to the sound a barbecue grill makes when you press the ignitor. A/C compressor issues as well. I was close to pulling the trigger on a blue one ( looks so good in that color) but I'm off that train now. I'm about to make a deal on a slightly used 2017 LT1 ZR1 Monday. I've been looking for any major issues with this generation Vette and have found nothing too concerning so far.

Mustangs are good cars, but they are not a Corvette. You need to drive both and decide which one fits your driving style, budget and personal fun factor.
Ill bite only for the odd chance this is a real question:
My Fiance bought a 2016 Mustang - not a GT but nice loaded. Was it a beautiful car? Yes Was it fast? Ill say it was "quick". Was it a Corvette? Not even close. Now I dont say that as a Mustang hater / basher - I say that because the C7 is a world class sports car. The Mustang (to me) still is very plastic looking and still very Ford. As much as one can argue "well a Vette is Chevy"...the C7's are not a typical Chevy. The massive changes introduced starting in 2014, set the bar for world class sports cars in so many categories. Not that a Mustang isnt a great car - I just dont think anyone can say its "world class"...like they do for a Vette... Again, just my .02 cents.
It's true man! Mustang is very Ford and I would like to spend my money on the real sport car! Budget is big issue!

Thanks for telling that. I'll definitely go back check. BTW, how much you spend on ZL1

My bad on the ZR1... I meant to say Z51. Confusingly close in Corvette nomenclature.
I was in the same boat in December... Wanted to replace my '11 Mustang GT Premium and after spec'ing an '18 GT Premium, it was north of FIFTY GRAND! For a MUSTANG!! (the sticker price on my well equipped '11 GT adjusted for inflation was about $39k - could not see how the cool LCD dash and ride control were worth $12k+)
Also, from '14-17, Ford produced FAR MORE Mustangs than GM did Corvettes... I average a "Nice car!' or am engaged by a stranger about once a week with the 'vette... Can count on one hand the number of times it happened in the Mustang in six years...
Some people love Fords, others Chevrolet. Thus the draw to one type of sports car might be based upon this pre-conceived preference . As you know, Mustangs have a seat behind the drivers and the passenger seat BUT it really isn’t made for long trips or especially for adult passengers imo. Obviously, the Corvette has no seats behind the driver and passenger seats. Personally, I have always loved the Corvette body style so buying a Mustang was never an option for me. My parents owned a used 66 Mustang but I didn’t like it because we had to ride in the backseat (3 kids) and it was crowded! Might be my reason for not liking the Mustang car personally.
Anyways, test drive them both if you can do so. Corvette dealerships don’t always let you test drive the Corvette, at least thats been my experience in the past. Read up all you can about BOTH cars and then decide from there which car you want to purchase. After doing so, I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for your particular situation.
Yes. Personally, I don't like a two seat even thought i didn't have family right now. Mustang have convertible and thats the thing make this car in my list. But, I would say I'm more sport car fan and performance is the most important thing I would consider first. So, I think I have the answer for myself. Budget sometime push you back to the point you cannot make the decision

It's better?

I think I will prefer to put my money on the C7, but this is not the final decision. I have find a dealer in Oregon and they sell the car(Z51) for 47K. I will keep my eyes on the market and hopefully I can become a Corvette owner soon.
Welcome to the FORUM !!
Jeez, without a LOT more information it's pretty hard to give much of an answer. I guess seeing as how you are on the CV Forum I would expect most members here would tell you to buy the CV. From what I've heard the 14's have been very reliable. If you buy from a dealer make sure you get an extended warranty; these guys are jammed with lots of electronics and are not cheap to fix. Simple question for me - the Corvette is a nicer better performing car all around and is classier than the nickle-dime mustangs you see at every corner. To be balanced, their are some kick-*** performance versions of the Mustang out there, but probably not in the price range of a used 14 Corvette ex. 350GT, Boss 302's and GT-500's. I do have to say, strip them down and they are all a V-6 entry level fun car with lots of extra juice added. ANY model of the Corvette stands alone, no such thing as a stripped down C7. JMO -- good luck.
Thanks for the advice. I will double check the warranty with dealer. GT-500 is good car and you can find the car is fun as well. I'm not sure how much it is but I think C7 are in the same price range with Shelby GT500. I have a friend buy the ZL1 for trades his Panamera+20k which depreciate a lot.

Maybe wait another 6 months and see the new C8! I hear they are changing the engine to DOHC! What do you think about it. I will be interesting to see the new generation come out and reconsider.
