Dash trim issue

3LT trim package Right?
We seem to be seeing more and more of this 3LT leather dash shrinkage issue. Search this forum.
Quite a job to repair as dash and center console has to come out to replace. Sometimes covered under warranty and sometimes not.

Curious about year and color
As others have stated this issue is not new. There are other threads discussing it. Just curious if anyone has seen the issue on a 2017 or newer. Also would be curious if any spice red package cars have seen it. Thanks.

That really sucks. Sure shouldn't happen on a car only a few years old.

It's ironic that you pay thousands for the upgrade 3LT leather (though some question it's even an upgrade) for what? The Risk that your dash will end up like one above. I don't get it.

You might only have to replace part of the 3LT dash..mine is a 3LT same year as yours and only one section had to be replaced. I still cost us a few hundred dollars and GM also agreed to partial “good will ‘ amount of money towards the repair. I don’t know the mileage on e 2014 but mine had about 9k miles on it at the time my dealership looked at it. I first though, had to contact GM directly and got a case number and then was directed to schedule an appointment for my car to be taken into the dealership to be looked at. Btw, it took several months before there was an available appointment at my local dealership to get my car looked at! Thought that was ridiculous but I waited and took my car in and the service manager took more pictures of the bubbling up area of the leather dash and submitted it to GM. It took several more weeks before GM responded, however, but at least I got some monies from GM towards replacing the leather dash that was coming loose on my car.
Its ridiculous for this problem to still be occurring with the leather dashes, as apparently, based upon what I have now learned from others in this forum, this happened previously in 4lt dashes of C6 Corvettes

None of us who ordered a 3LT in 2014 in 2013, or even 2015 knew this could or would happen.

I haven't seen anything where GM has acknowledged it as a problem must less took steps to correct it, so assume it's still a potential issue in current models.

Just because a few folks have some bad embroidery with their leather seams, we should all buy 1LT or 2LT packages? Im sorry, but it sounds like some folks will do anything to feel good about their decision to not purchase a 3LT equipped model. Im not saying 1, 2, or 3 LT is the way to go - Im not getting involved in that moronic argument ("my corvette package is better than your corvette package")...but dont use this as a way to feel good that you didn't go the "fully loaded" route...
OP Im sorry your having these issues - hopefully this gets repaired with little headaches to you. I keep watching my leather seams to make sure I dont see what your experiencing - thank you for sharing.

This comment is just so silly... So your answer to a problem with a car is to choose a lesser optioned car to avoid it? By that same thought process - folks having issues with their automatic transmissions - should they remove their tranny's and get pulled by horses? At least they wont have that bad (upgraded) transmission...

The info is out there now for those who are ordering it and we have members who are preaching here daily that the 3LT package is the only way to go.

I did not know about this issue until I saw it on this forum. My 14 3LT never had a dash issue up to when I traded it in April 18. My 18 Grand Sport is a 3LT, but the only way you can get a Carbon 65 is with the 3LT package. Being my car is garage kept it may be issue free like my 14 was.
Personally, I prefer to have a 3LT. I spend my time inside the car.

Goodwill? GM only pays for part of it? Even if its out of warranty, there is no way a dash should fall apart like that after only 4-5 years (outside of ridiculous abuse), GM should be footing the entire bill for these failures.

The service guy at my local GM dealership said that’s the best GM would do and he had tried to get them to cover more of the cost of the repair. He said that was all GM had agreed to give me so I could take their partial goodwill help or leave it as that’s all GM would give me towards the repair. My response was I understand that and appreciate the “goodwill” GM credit towards the repair but paying about 78k for my new car four years ago (with tax, title, extended warranty ) and the leather is already pulling up from the dash is ridiculous imo.

I agree with you but that’s not the GM I know or have dealt with....imo they basically said by their response to me, it’s out of warranty but ( because we are such good guys) we will give you a little money towards the repair since your car looks brand new and has only 9k miles on it in a little over 4 years.
