Looks nice! I'm not one for changing the looks of a Corvette. In my opinion there is not much you can do to make a Corvette look better without making it look junky! However, I really do like this diffuser and I love the stripe!!!
Read the PDF in my post #20 above. There is a tech appendix with a number of pages that discuss diffusers, blown diffusers, what the fins, technically called fences, are all about. In fact the C6R has a plate under even more “fences” and you’ll see why F1 cars get much of their downforce, which is more than they weight, from the bottom shape and diffusers! In fact an F1 car can theoretically drive upside down on the ceiling!
All that said, in a Street car even at fast highway speeds they are there strictly for looks.
Airflow is a fun science and race teams spend millions to continually employ wind tunnels and today computer simulation programs to optimize. Diffusers create downforce with less drag than that created by spoilers for a given amount.
I did find one technical benifit. On my white car the rear was getting large black spots that were hard to clean. Now I get smaller spots but still use a waterless cleaner and microfiber towel every couple of trips into town to remove dirt and clean between the fences.
I recall a car commercial some time back where a F1 car or something similar did a barrel roll in a quite rounded tunnel. Probably CGI or digital spoofery but with the right aero it has been claimed to be possible by engineers skilled in airflow.
This one by C7 Carbon has an under tray and looks more like the ones on the C7.R. Don't know if it actually makes any difference in the performance but it does look "cool".
I went with 4 fin design from ACS. Was able to install without removal of any panels but wasn't the easiest job. My GS has lots of stuff packed into the rear driver side area just behind the rear valance. I did it for a bit of looks and less on performance. Doubt this version does much in that way...
You are right, on the street they are 99% for looks and 1% functional in the grans scheme of things. But that is what I am going for, I have having my cars look just like the one parked next to me at the store. That's just me, there are plenty of people out there that want their car to be stock and for all the parts to stay original. I will leave that worry for the guy that gets my car 30+ years from now. :0)
With that said I am digging the look of this one as well.
Was looking for a rear diffuser for my 2014 and considered adding fins. When I got my Grand Sport, C7 Carbon came out with a complete rear diffuser with Fins and an integrated bottom plate. This is a pic/text of the install. I had a C7 Carbon Splitter on my 2014 and this carbon fiber product is equally high quality and a perfect fit. You’ll see in the attached PDF why it fits narrow and wide rear bodies. Bought mine in carbon flash that matches the rear bumper. My Avitar left shows a small pic- many more pics in PDF. Very happy with product.
Yep, as are the ~40 others that are presented at the end. The install pics are mostly mine and the research into race car aerodynamics includes a 300 page book I bought and uses some of those pics. It is referenced at the end.
I try to show the small “tricks” that a DIYer like myself might encounter on the minor mods made on my C7 Z51 and my Grand Sport. There are even some for the replacement of the battery. Even the GM 2014 Service Manual, which I have, does not show how to remove the power board on the positive terminal! Aftermarket folks often have the same simple statements as this one, “mark fence drill locations.” Much easier said than done! I show wa worked for me.

Well sir, it is much appreciated! I will def use this as a guide. There are some really good tips in there to help DIYs think through processes. Kudos!
