Just purchased a new 2019 Long Beach red Z06 in September. Lots of orange peel, body panel imperfections and panel alignment issues. My 2017 Silverado has nicer paint....GM's Corvette QC is terrible...
All in ALL, the paint on my 2017 GS Vert (old paint shop) is about on par with that on my 2018 Tacoma in that both have a little OP, however you have to be looking for it to see it. I guess I got one of the good ones.
Keep in mind lighter colors, like silver, don't show orange peel as much as darker cars.
The new paint shop might be better than the old one, but it's still pretty lousy imo, especially for GMs top sportscar. My 19 has pretty bad orange peel and a spot where there is dirt under the paint that in no way, shape or form should have gotten past QC.

I couldn't help but have that in mind as I've been inspecting body finishes on fine collector and investment grade autos for over 40 years. And before everyone starts screaming that a C7 isn't a collector/investment auto, I'm certainly aware of that, it's my FUN MOBILE.

Plus there is very heavy-handed touch ups in a bunch of areas. Bowling Green certainly can't be proud of their quality control in this area. I park my silver Vette next to my silver Volvo in my garage and the Volvo paint is much better in every way. My wife's Kia is much better also!Lucky the car is so incredibly amazing everywhere else, so I just can't be upset...

As I stated in an earlier post, I was trying to remain optimistic in reading this thread, however seem little has changed in that some new C7s are coming out of the new paint shop near perfect and others leaving a lot to be desired. Nothing's changed, if you get a good one considerate yourself fortunate, and if you don't just deal with it.
I think you got a lot of people hear still bad mouthing the new Corvette paint plant. However, you don't see many posters uploading visible evidence to support their claims. I am very skeptical about these claims (for the 19 MY). I have seen many 2019 Corvettes on dealer lots and at the National Corvette Museum the past 6 months. I am just not seeing wide spread paint QC issues. The paint I have seen is excellent quality equal or better than most most any of the other automobile manufacturers for all across the globe.

Why do you think posters here would bad mouth paint jobs on their own C7s if they weren't unhappy with them? Kenny James for example isn't a troll but has offered productive input since participating on this forum.
I pretty much have relied on what new owners have said which have been both positive and negative reports. To add to the confusion there's many varying opinions as to what separates a bad paint job from a good one.
I plan to visit a few dealers and draw my own opinion.

Why didn't you take it back to the dealer? If you did, why didn't they fix it?
i just picked up a 19. I would say the horizontal panels look great, but the doors still have that wavy look. I also see a vertical line in the right 1/4 panel from manufacturing which in my mind is unacceptable for any car. i see what may appear to be tiny grain of sand under the stripe on the roof. and i have a small paint blob on the point of one of the 1/4 panel vent covers. oddly, i didn't notice this blob after washing the car 3 times, clay barring once, paint sealing once, and waxing once. everything i mentioned is very hard to see so overall i am very happy with the finish. ill take some pics tonight and post on Friday.
most posters/owners who have 19s say good things about their paint quality. Glava's vehicle above looks awesome. This is consistent with most every 19 I have seen. If your going to see OP it would stick out like a sore thumb on his color.

You say most, so you must be keeping tally, I'm not nor do I know how you could. Anyway, this is just my point, the paint quality out of the new paint shop is inconsistent just as it was out of the old paint shop.
This is one reason I wouldn't 'order' a new C7, as I would want to inspect the paint and body panel fit and condition prior to committing to purchase. Seems you were lucky on your paint quality, seems others, not so much.

They offered to paint the quarter panel where the defect is - I've got lots of experience with paint, so I decided to live with the defect rather than take a chance on a dealership paint shop repaint. I noted the issue so if it gets worse while in warranty then I'd have them repaint it. But again, something like that shouldn't even leave the factory like that.
The '18s I viewed @ Chevy dealers across 3 States I was traveling through on a cross country jaunt in January and February 2018, ALL had OP. Every one of them.
The new '19s at a small suburban Chevy dealership in North Texas were ALL OP free. ALL (7) of them. Damndest, thing I ever saw.If there's any OP on the above C7, it's not going to be easily detectable in photos. My 2017 is covered with OP, just as every 2018, I've viewed in person has. The OP doesn't photograph easily. You must inspect in-person, or, have the photographer furnish accurate photos.
In my opinion the paint on my 19 vert is beautiful and I'm very happy with it. But someone was sleeping when they installed my hood as it is tilted to the left and the next time I'm down by the dealer I will go by the body shop for adjustment
