Default Radiator Temp

Ok, last question for the day. My 2014 C7 3LT indicates slightly over 220 water temp in normal driving on any day, cold or not. I understand the 2014's have a bogus analog temp gauge and there is nothing to do but grin and bear it. I have read of others with this issue double checking the digital temp and it is in a more normal range of 190-200.

Question is where is the digital radiator readout? My menus do not have such, not in the pocket gauges or anywhere in any mode. Where is your digital water temp readout? Bet it is like the horsepower display in the pocket gauges that I do not have.

There are a couple different ways to display it but I generally leave my display in Touring Mode (Settings > Display >Tour). Then you can to go (as I remember) Options > Performance and get readout of coolant temp, oil temp and pressure, etc

Thanks Ken, but been there done that. I see every temp, pressure, and voltage reading there is except water temp. I think my 2014 just does not have a digital display of the radiator temp which does not make a whole lot of sense.

My '14 Z51 sure did. Did you go to Settings > Display > Tour?

I have been over Tour, Sport, and Track several times to see what I am missing. This is not a Z51 but a base Stingray and maybe that is the difference.

Perhaps. Hard to believe however that even the base car wouldn't have a digital coolant temp readout.

What about your Pocket gauges?

Agreed. Yes, I have tried both left and right pocket gauges and the radiator temp is just no where to be found. Some have HP produced in the pocket gauge, but not this one.

Maybe someone with a '14 base might chime in

This was a '14 specific thing, Base or Z51 made no different.

It was in tour display on performance info IIRC. The icon is an engine icon, not a thermometer and it generally reads about 10-15 deg F lower than the analog gauge on the lower right of the dash (rumor is that there is a separate sensor from a different part of the coolant system, but there has never been confirmation).

FWIW, my '14 analog gauge always reads 220, winter and sometimes runs higher when the AC is cranking during warmer months.

If you go to sport display, can you display it in the DIC area. I have a Z06 which lost its dedicated analog temperature display for the less useful "boost" gauge. My usual dash display is sport mode with temperature indicated on the fake graphic gauge in the DIC area.

GM took a bad lead from Ford in turning their gauges into glorified idiot lights. My 2018 GMC 2500HD Denali diesel pickup will show 210 on the coolant temperature gauge as long as the coolant is in the 185-220 range; at least its oil pressure and transmission temperature gauges are still accurate. This dumbing down of information was a stupid decision for any platform and especially for a truck designed for heavy towing service.

Below is the gauge setup I use for the Z06, maybe that option is available in your 2014 display if the touring digital readout isn't?

On Edit; using the manage attachments didn't work but using the image icon which brings up the same dialogue box did work.

The 2014 analog gauge isn't accurate, as mentioned it reads 220 even when the real temp verified by the digital gauge or an OBDII scan will show around 190.

I believe this is the display you are looking for.

Set to Tour, Performance display.

Yup, I completely overlooked that and was looking for coolant or something beside Engine. I be the dummy.
