Is OnStar module needed?
Is the on start module needed for anything else other than Onstar? In other word if the module go bad will it only affect Onstar?

Your Bluetooth and in-car WiFi Hotspot features are also part of the ON-Star module.
The On Star module can be easily modified to disable the On Star feature, but retain the Bluetooth feature.
