Exactly!
There are not too many that can paint a body panel where an experienced eye can't tell the car has been painted on.
PLUS... they won't be painting just the door, they will absolutely likely 100 percent be blending it to the fender and the quarter panel, meaning all 3 get painted.
Why buy a brand new car that has been painted on? Unless it's big bucks less than one that hasn't been painted on.
Not only the paint work, but the swirls from having to have been buffed are terribly hard to keep messing with because they keep coming back over time.
Walk away... too many out there that don't need to be painted on.

I _did_ accept a paint fix on my '15 C7 - fixed perfectly. I bought the thing to drive not look at. I've got 83-84K on my C7.... have put 40K miles on my Ferrari in 5 years... no matter the cost, at the end of the day they're all just cars....

Doesn't take all that long to get it again. You ordered a special car to be special for you...
No way I'd take a car I special ordered that now had to be painted on.
That re-paint work will be able to be seen. Swirls from buffing also have a nasty habit of reappearing over and over.

i would tell him that is the way I got it brand new and that it was not uncommon for them to fix paint like that. What do you think they do at the factory when their quality control finds an issue. Do you think they scrap that car and build another one or spot paint it.?

I would not accept a new car that had paint work. My first new car, an Oldsmobile had extensive paint work. It was a bad job. The service advisor told me not to accept delivery but I was so excited about my first new car that I tool delivery but I regretted my decision. By the way Bondojohn the Olds dealer was in your town of Park Ridge, IL.

I see lots of vehicles on the road daily that you can tell have had certain panels painted. It may look like a perfect match when it is first done, however I would be concerned about later on down the road with respect to how the paint ages. The factory paint is baked on, I’m sure the local dealer doesn’t have that option.
Count me in the “too fussy” crowd but I don’t think I’d want my brand new toy painted before I’ve even paid for it. To some of us low life’s 90k is still a fair chunk of change, I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect a certain level of quality. I’m not saying you need to set the bar out of reach but you shouldn’t have to dig it out of the sand either!
I realize without pictures of said defects we are all left with our own mental picture of either the worst possible scenario or a couple small specs of dust. It all boils down to what is acceptable to each individual.

EDIT: But when I was asking a very good body shop about repainting the nose of our C6 due to some small pits/chips from driving, the body shop said "remember that the best paint your car will ever have, is the paint it came out of the factory with."
