Yes its my age (64) but I remember when I bought my two favorite cars new; a CRX Si in 1986 and a Miata in '92; no AC, no electric mirrors/doors, hell, not even a radio. Now I'm getting the impression that my '14 Z51 M7 1LT Convertible is basically on par with a horse and wagon or maybe, if I stretch, a tuk tuk…..
Yes I realize with options come cool stuff and I admit I do miss the heated seats on my '12 GS Conv 3LT but geez, some of you guys make a 1LT sound like a life sentence. Talk about first world problem sufferings....ah well, I guess I'll just have to take a couple of ibuprofen and suffer my way; shifting my own gears (gasp), actually looking at the gauges (the horror) and having to control the near torture experience of
having to adjust to the temperature of the seats (is there no justice)……..

I always look for the bare bones car. Its handling first and everything else after that for me. My 17 GS is a 1LT, my previous Porsche Cayman was an R-model. The 2000 Miata, over time, morphed into a track only car. Now I am looking for a TR3, TR4 or a TR6 to get back into simpler times. My wife however just bought a Tesla. Oh, I am 69.

I’m gotten super soft, I use to only want whatever was fastest and didn’t care about luxury at all. I got my first car with heated seats in 2004, haven’t had a car since without out it. Got my first car in 2014 with cooled seats and haven’t a car since without it. Going backwards in comfort/technology is a hard thing to do. I will say if I make a enough to own a Ferrari 355 GTS and be comfortable with all the maintenance from the miles I rack up I’ll definitely do that.

Hey, must have been young and stupid back then. My 67 Chevelle didn't even have P.S, no AC and a AM radio. of course I changed that out and put FM with a re-verb . The first car we had with AC was a '84 T Bird Elan 5.0 .

Some people like all the bells and whistles and are willing to pay the cost for them. Myself I certainly do not need heated seats, memory this and that along with some of the other options.

Yes, me too. But when you purchase a car most times now ( unless you special order it ) it comes with certain packages.

I have had 90 cars and trucks in the last 50 years. Some of my favorites were big luxury cars that were great on long highway trips (1974 Buick Riviera, 1974 Chrysler Imperial Lebaron were my favorites) and had every option known to mankind. These days even the base model cars have more options than the loaded cars of days gone by. There are so many gadgets on today's cars it boggles my mind. in most cases the base model cars of today have more options than I would ever use. To me the my 2019 1LT is "loaded" and I love it.

There a lot more practical everyday usage and convenience features equipped on later C7s, than yours. The later C7s 2LT package is getting close to a complete preferred C7. Of course, the 3LT has it
all. I was fortunate to find a new 2017 C7 with 3LT, at a -20% discount off MSRP. That sizable discount mitigated any pain in paying the 3LT up charge that many are paying with far lesser or no discounts. The 2LT package is the sweet spot - all things considered. Most members would probably agree with this assessment. ...

In my part of the country, AC isn't a "luxury".

Everything else in 2/3LT is 'nice' but not a must-have -- except for the HUD. I really love that feature.

If HUD was a stand-alone option, I'd have a 1LT w/HUD, no question.

You've gotten so soft you can't take a person on the internet's opinion on a 1LT or 1LZ so you had to make a post lol

Dude,

You admit to driving a Miata & A CRX? Rainbow colors by chance??? Technology evolves. Have an iPhone or still using a bag phone in your car?

Your car. Whatever floats your boat.

To answer your question, yes, our society is progressively weakening but I will leave that for the political and off-topic forums! : )

I had the heated seats and HUD in my 04 and 06 but honestly the wife drove them, not me. My 17 (sold) and 19’s are both 1LT and they suit me fine.
‘I worry more about being able to crawl outta the damn thing than all those other 2LT and 3LT things...

I imagine superannuated first-generation bronze age cavemen asked a similar question: "We no longer chip tools out of stone, are we getting soft?" while balancing against the caveman equivalent of a walker.

Biggest thing missing for me are the front cameras. They help a lot with the lip hanging so low. I use it every time I don't reverse park.

I remember saying I don't need a TV remote, I have kids for that. Electric windows cost too much. I have a loaded out f250 platinum. Out on the highway I feel like I am sitting in the easy chair playing a video game. Times have changed and it cost $$

Love my 2019 1LT, nothing stock about it!! In 2014 I had to custom order my BMW 328 to not include anything extra and I love it still. Also got to do the BMW Performance Center Delivery!!

Yeah. We had to order my wife's 2017 BMW 330i to avoid unwanted options. She wanted the optional paint (Imperial Blue Metallic), the Harmon Kardon Surround Sound System and the Driver Assistance Package-Rear View Camera and Park Distance Control) and that was it. Reasonable price and still all the essential equipment.
