I got the chance to drive a Ferrari F430, Aston Martin DB9 and Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder today (from LTF adventures, got it as a gift). I was super psyched and my expectation were high. To my surprise, while I thoroughly enjoyed the brutal acceleration of the Lambo and precise handling of the Ferrari, the C7 blows them out of the water. To be fair they were built in the 2009-2010s so it's probably not fair to compare them to the C7. But it's just amazing how much technology has advanced and after driving them it made me appreciate the C7 so much more!
I would agree. Not that it is exotic, but I have had a 2013 911 for about 8 months now and if not for the CPO warranty I would be out of pocket $10k. That is why I am going back to a vette. I have a deal put together on a 2017 GS 3LT wish me luck, should have it this week. It will be my 3rd C7. I keep getting dumb and trading the car that I should keep...
I got to drive an Aston Martin Vanquish and really liked the car - fit, finish, appointments, power, handling were exceptional, but it wasn't worth THREE TIMES the purchase price of a 'vette, and I can only imagine what the maintenance costs are...
A 10 yr old exotic sounds great on paper until you need to pay for servicing it.
Yeah very true. The fleet owner told us that based on his experience, those type of cars actually needs to be driven hard else they start having mechanical problems. Thought that was interesting.

In process, put the deal together yesterday and I am doing my financing this week. I had a 2014 Stingray 2LT M7, a 2016 Stingray Z51 3LT A8. This will be a 2017 Grand Sport 3LT A8.

Read title, came in to post this. ^^^
Too many horror stories. Got a buddy going through it now with an older R8; needs front diff. and shocks. Dealer quoted him $13.4k. Ouch. He's had the car for less than 2 weeks.

…….What I can afford to BUY vs what I can afford to OWN (especially as I am recently retired); you can't deny the fun/thrill of a
2008 F430 for example but how do I explain to my lovely wife why I had to dip into our savings for "regular" maintenance
while her Prius keeps chugging along with an oil change....I would end up staring at it in the garage......as my lovely bride would
have me sleeping there anyway...
amazing that the mystery of used car pricing continues. used exotic price should be the new car price less the $ amount of repairs required, or simply recommended, per the car's maintenance schedule. aka "pay me now new or pay me later used." the ied on this repair schedule pricing structure is the yahoo who can't believe a used exotic should sell for that little, and bids/blindly pays a higher used sales price for the car, so that the cost of the repairs plus the used car price now exceeds the new car cost! the cost of any repair is the cost of the part, plus 3 times that cost for the labor, minimum. if the manual is in another language, the cost of the translator will bankrupt the repair.
in the dark side. aka service department world, new cars with warranties are wonderful bargains.

You'll love it. I have an R8 and was going to buy a Huracan, but I came across a smokin' deal on a '17 GS. No regrets.

You've got to have a part time job to finance your hobbies! That's what I intend to do when I retire eventually.

It's interesting how that works. My neighbor has an "old" Porsche....a 1998. He doesn't drive it very much anymore and seems to have to take it in for service every time he does. His mechanic basically told him the same thing. The car was made to be driven, and all of the seals dry up if you let it sit.
