Got 90 days free... Will dump it when its done. My phone handles most of my needs. Other than the remote tools, would not even use the other stuff even for free.

I loved in my Z06 and my Duramax 2500 the phone to Navigation location send when heading out to the car to go somewhere. Now its a higher monthly fee and I just don't use the in car navigation and only my phone. So to me at this point a waste as I wont pay for that feather. You would think after purchasing a 90k Z and a 60k Duramax 2500 they would throw that in for free beside the remote start. But oh well.
I use it regularly for directions, when I can't find a location I'm looking for, for navigation directions to a destination and even for making restaurant reservations!
My complimentary period ended a long time ago. I now buy a monthly plan when we go on our annual month long road-trip. The price of the monthly plan is worth the piece of mind.
My vette's are too old for it. My 15 Silverado expired after the 3 months and they pestered me for a while to signup but I just ignored them and they finally gave up. The wifes 18 Buick still has it on from the original purchase. We know the dealer well I think he turned it on for a year. The WfFi/LTE thing is nice for trip when you have passengers with IPADs but not worth paying a for yet another Cell service.
One good thing about OnStar though is the three lights on the mirror remind me I've got power there should I ever install a blendmount for a radar detector.
I disconnected my mirror just to get rid of those OnStar lights. Red and blue in my mirror? Is the fuzz on my tail again? ...oh no just OnStar!
My C7 was used so never had OnStar and really didn't see any benefits of it.
If you want a laugh here is the BlondeStar video:
I think it is a matter of preference. If you want something real easy to use it may be worth it if you don't mind the dollars they charge for it. I have one friend of mine who doesn't want anything to do with technology such as smart cell phones and enjoys it and doesn't mind the pricing. It is dead simple to use and you would always be connected.
I let the three-month free service expire since I never used it except to show-off how the phone app could give the car's location, sound the horn, etc. My friends and I amuse easily so it was fun while it lasted. The "basic plan" is available free for five years, which gives you the ability to lock/unlock from the phone app and receive monthly email reports on the car's service and health status. After that's expired I'll let that go, too, if they want more than 50¢/month.
I used the My Chevrolet App all the time on my ‘16 for remote lock & sending Navigation destinations, which was included in the cost of the car for 5 years. Traded in the ‘16 for a ‘19 GS and got a whoping 30 days of remote lock & Nav destination connection. OnStar will let me have that same capability for a mere $14.95 / month. What a complete joke. How they stay in business is beyond me.
Never used mine. The most annoying thing for me is the annoying OnStar buttons and lights are integrated into the rearview mirror. Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally pushed the button.
Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally pushed the button.
Had this happen in a rental once - scared the crap out of me when a voice started asking me questions just because I moved the mirror.
As stated above I disconnected my mirror = no more lights / no more accidental presses. Sure you lose the auto dimming feature but with tinted windows I don't have any issues with headlights behind me.
I love the remote and vehicle status features linked to the Chevy App!. I also use Traffic and Weather quite a bit. IMO it's not a necessity but really nice to have.
