No. Like said by others, my smart phone is more accurate for Nav and available when connected to Car Play. Very happy with that. And Wifi or a separate car phone connection? I cannot come up with a use for me. Now my son is into tech like this and has AT&T as his ISP. During the Hurricane that hit North Carolina last year he used his Silverado's Wifi a lot since his house lost power. In that case it would be useful.

Got a 30 day free trial with my 2019. 30 days? Really? On a car that expensive? You have to be kidding me. Have no interest in signing up. Way to expensive. My wife's BMW came with a similar system for 4 years.

I have OnStar Active on all three of my vehicles (including the 03 Tahoe). OnStar is like insurance you don't use it unless it is needed. The very first thing OnStar provides is automatic crash notification which is something you never want to use but is great if you need it. If anybody wants to see how that works all they have to do is watch the video of me putting my 15 Z06 into the tire wall at VIR at about 90 mph. From the time of the impact until an OnStar person was talking to me was 10 seconds (10 seconds that I don't remember). The PDR video shows the car hitting the wall, bouncing off the wall and doing a complete 360 before stopping. Once the car came to a stop the car called OnStar. You can hear it telling me it has initiated an OnStar call, hear the phone ringing and then the OnStar person talking to me. I didn't hear anything from the time of the impact until the OnStar guy talked to me.

You don't get that kind of response with a hand held cell phone. If that would have happened on a road any cell phone I had sitting in the car would have been thrown some place by the violent twisting of the car after the impact. Although not a problem at VIR there are many areas in the country where there hand helds show No Service due to having small antennas that don't permit much range. The OnStar cell phone has a much better antenna and so it's transmissions can reach cell towers that hand helds can't.

Over the years I have used OnStar twice due to two flat tires that occurred in places where I had no idea who to call. One was late at night on a lonely Interstate in UpState NY where the only visible living things in the area besides us were a herd of cattle.

I have used it every now and then for diagnostic purposes. My active plans are the Basic Plan that is good for 5 years after I purchased the car and the Protection Plan. The Protection Plan doesn't provide stolen vehicle recovery or navigation. If I am traveling through areas that don't have good cell phone coverage I usually purchase some yearly minutes so I can use the OnStar cell phone if I need to call somebody from one of those areas.

The other things that are good about the system is I can call for medical help for myself or somebody else or call in a crash/emergency that I see. The way cell phone and 911 systems work nowadays the emergency systems can't pick up the location the call is being made from. However, OnStar knows where you are and can inform the emergency system operators.

Cost is less than $200 per year per vehicle and like insurance I don't want to use their services because if I need them that usually means I am in trouble. I have signed up to have vehicle mileage reported to my insurance carrier so I can get my low miles discount on all 3 vehicles.

Bill I see the basic plan is $35 per month. I'm curious how you get it for $200 a year. Thanks.

I have the protection plan and pay by the year not the month. I don't think the protection plan shows up on the web. Call and talk to them and say you want the plan without navigation or stolen vehicle recovery. Those items are optional for me. I think the cost to me is $168 per year right now but I get a small discount. Without the discount it would be closer to $200.

With Android auto, AAA I see no reason for it. The cost per month is too pricy

Not a chance. Its the biggest con GM has. I have tried the trial before on other cars but on my 18 Z06 I didn't even activate the complimentary service. Its useless and they still continue to send me crap trying to get me to sign up.
