Default AS 3 Plus

Hi all. I have a '19 Z51. i am looking to ditch the stock RFs. Anyone have any
experience with the Michelin AS3 Plus tires in cold weather driving? Also, how are they in warmer weather? Thanks.

I live in Northern NJ where the temp is now in 30's and 40's. I just put them on my 2016 Z06 last week and wish I had put them on sooner. I don't track the car or drive it in bad weather and I'm quite happy with the ride improvement. Highly recommend. Bought from Tire Rack at a decent price. Good Luck.

I just arranged to have my z51 2018 changed to these tires next week. I have had them on my slk320 and audi tt and loved them. I am hoping for the same with the corvette. I plan on keeping them for the entire year...the reason I am changing now is because of the cold weather and the corvette is my daily driver. In the past with the other cars they where fine in the cold and with 1-2 inches of snow.

I put them on my 15 z51 a year ago & have about 10K on them. Have driven in snow, on ice,& frozen slush at 30 degrees. Handles great no problem. Love them. Keep them on year around.

Just put them on my ‘14 in September. Not a lot of time on the road so far, but I have been pleased with them. As the temps have been dropping here, the tires have given plenty of grip and the handling has been very good.

I run these tires year round, except when I'm at a track day.
No more chattering during slow turns and they arent as hard as a brick in the cold temps (what we here in Dallas call cold).
Not as grippy as the summer only tires during the warmer temps and dont pick up all the road debris, which is good
Have done well in the rain for me. I'll never have an opportunity to try them in the snow

I switched to these from summer tiers in August of last year and all i can say is they are an improvement over OEM and you will not be disappointed!

*i do not drive in rain, snow, ice, slush, etc.

I recently put a set of these tires on my BMW X5 5.0. I've been happy with the quiet ride and the lack of harshness but the steering is very loose with these tires and the car wanders a lot requiring constant vigilance at the wheel. The old tires and the tires before them were solid steering with no such issues. Even though the difference was immediate when the AS3s were installed I thought maybe I needed an alignment, so I took the car to the dealer for a 4 wheel alignment and there was no change. I still wasn't convinced so I took the car to an alignment specialty shop and they did find some adjustment still needed. But the steering is still not particularly stable. I'm going to live with it but I'd probably not buy these tires again and I'm not going to put them on my Vette...

I've got four sets on cars, you will not be disappointed. I just took sports off my new 19GS and put A+3's on, very pleased with ride, no rut tracking and they don't pick up and sandblast the sides of your car like sports do.

Thank You for the responses. I have decided to sell the OEM Z51 tires. What would be a fair price, for both buyer and seller, for the OEMs? They will have about 2K on them when I make the switch.

I put a set on last November. About 10K miles on them.
Replaced driver side front last winter due to tire splitting. They said road impact and being winter, likely a pothole. This week I had both fronts replaced.
Again they said impact breaks. I find it difficult to believe as drove all spring and summer without an impact break, but when the temps hit below freezing both need to be replaced.
I am hoping it was a bad batch of rubber combined with the cold. If either of these new ones need to be replaced, I am going to ask Discount Tire to comp me a different brand.

No warranty on the tires?

Road hazard, which is nice because it defrays most of the cost. Paying $45.00 per tire as I purchase replacement road hazard insurance.

Did these on the fronts about 6 months back, and on the rear a couple of months ago. Overall they are really great. No more hop/judder at low speeds, and seem to be just as grippy as the OE Super Sports they replaced. Maybe slightly better ride/noise than the Super Sports, but that may just be due to the old tires being at the wear bars.

That's very interesting.
We have two sets of wheels/sensors/zp tires for our 2017 Z51 Mag Ride.
PSS for summer, AS3+ for winter; swap out every Spring/Fall.
We have put about 15k miles on each set.

So far we've replaced two of the AS3+ tires (one front, one rear) because of almost identical pothole damage, once last year and once this year, two separate incidents. We too have the Discount Tires road hazard tire insurance, each time it cost us about $45 for the new tire/mounting/balance/insurance.
In the same number of miles, we've not had to replace any of the PSS tires. Since we use the All Seasons in winter, the frost heaves and potholes are worse than in summer, but it still makes me wonder about the robustness of the AS3+. The picture shows how the sidewall deflected enough that it was cut by the rim, tire pressures carefully set 30 psi cold. In each case, the tire did not lose any air pressure!

We take long trips in the winter/Spring and the AS3+ are an excellent touring tire. If I didn't do autocross in the summer, I'd leave the AS3+ on the car all year. We've driven them down to -12'F and in up to 3" of snow.

EDIT: I just noticed that CptCvMan lives only about 30 miles from me, the Illinois roads truly suck. Maybe we hit the same pothole on I-39.

I recently purchased new OEM wheels from Bob's House of Wheels along with the AS3+ runflats. The reason was cracked and bent wheels (My story has been told on many threads). Anyway, these along with the Magnetic Ride Software Update gave me a ride that I couldn't believe. I just drove from NJ to FL and the drive was magnificent. I would encourage anyone with the OEM runflats nearing or at the end of their life to replace them with the AS3+ tires. You won't regret the purchase.

Yup. Mine are the same type of failure as yours. 2 were split open like this and the last was bubbled so on its way to splitting. All in the same area near the rim.

I put these on shortly after purchasing the car used with the original tires replaced at 18K. I got caught in an ice storm about three months after purchase, and although no tire can handle ice, I was able to keep the car from hitting two concrete barriers entering an interstate at slow speeds, only to spend the next 5 hours waiting for a wreck to clear. The difference in ride, noise is tremendous. I did not get the run flat version, so I keep OnStar just in case I need assistance. I also have the standard 18" front and 19" rear on my 2016 3LT with chrome wheels and have hit several port holes without ill effects.

I just had them put on my 2019 GS last Monday. These are noticably better for most of our normal driving. They are quieter, no more tire hop on tight turns, the ride is better. I was out the other night in 21 degrees and the traction was great and I didnt worry about damaging them. I didnt have a chance to wet weather test yet but tgey have to be much better. I got mine from Discount Tire and they had them in 3 days. I bought run flats as the non version was only $7 less per tire. No brainer.

Why would anyone pick the AS3+ over the 4S?

I still have the factory run craps on my Z51 and they need to be replaced.
