This is long but I'm trying to explain the whole situation to see if anyone has had this happen to them...This morning about 4:30am I was headed out to work, I walked out my garage and I remembered my sunglasses were in my Stingray in the garage. So I went to open the door and the door was locked, I NEVER lock the door of my Vette in the garage, I went inside my house to grab my fob to open the door and still, she acted like she was locked. I went around to the hatch to open with the hatch release button above the license plate and still nothing. My first thought was..."Crap! Dead Battery"! I opened the hatch with the key from the fob and right then the alarm sounded off! Now I am waking the neighborhood not to mention my sleeping wife and two Jack Russel Terriers. I attempted to use the fob to unlock or turn off alarm to no avail and so I pulled the door release from the cargo area jumped in, put my foot on the brake and pushed the start button to start the car, the engine started as normal and the honking alarm stopped. At this point I am totally confused at what just happened. I let the car run for a few minutes hoping the battery would charge but then realized that the car started normal so the battery was most likely fine. With the drivers door open and me sitting in the seat, I pushed the start/stop button to shut the car off and the dash & radio stayed on which I thought was weird plus the chine was beeping at me. I got out and shut the door thinking this would stop. Nope! Dash is still lit up, radio still going and chine still beeping! So I went to open the door and guess what? She acted lock again! and I know I did not lock the door. Once again I walk to the back of the car to pop the hatch and again, nothing...at this point I am thoroughly confused... out comes the fob key to manually pop the hatch and the whole damn sequence starts again with the alarm!!!! so back into the car and I notice on the dash it has a warning that says "remote not detected" however I step on brake and car starts and alarm silences. After going through this whole chain of events about 4 times I stuck the fob in the hole on the right side of the steering column and preformed a normal start, I let the car run for about 10 minutes, shut it down and all seemed to be back to normal. When I shut her down, no dash light, no radio and no chines. Now since I am late for work I shut the door and decided to not attempt to open the door again because I did not want it to start the sequence of event all over. So Finally I am at the end of this and ask...HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO THEM? If so, please elaborate what you found it to be??? This is a 2017 base Stingray with 14K miles. I have not done any mods to the car other than cosmetic and installed am AWE X-Pipe about a month ago, so mechanically and electrically, she is still bone stock. Thanks for reading to the end!
Just a quick guess; maybe your FOB battery is getting low. I had to change both my FOB batteries in my 2015 Stingray a couple years after I bought the car. There are other reports on the forum of weird stuff happening with weak/dead FOB batteries.
In any event -- hell of a way to start your day
First it is way to early to be going to work, LOL. I second the fob battery as mentioned. Cheap low hanging fruit fix or try before trying anything else. Let us know your fix. What yr is the car, have read the fob batteries don't last as long as other vehicles for whatever reason. Buddy had a 17 GS that went.

I can see this due to the fob being 3 years old now and probably time to replace the batteries in both of them, however, that doesn't explain why the door was locked in the first place. Thanks for the fast input! Drive safe!

She is a 2017 Stingray 2LT, purchased new in March of 2018. Ill be changing the batteries in both FOB's today. I'm still curious as to why the door was locked in the first place and after getting out and closing the door knowing that I did not lock the doors. I guess sometimes electrical gremlins rear their ugly heads! Thanks!

There is such a think as "Auto-lock". My car locks that way every time I shut it down and get out.

I'm probably missing it somewhere, but I can't find the auto-lock feature. My SS sedan has it and for 160,000 I've gotten so used to it that now I am constantly forgetting to lock my Vette doors. Please help a brother out and tell me where to find it. BTW, my car is a '19 Z51 2LT....

Browse around in your settings on the NAV screen. Personalization menu, Vehicle, Auto door lock

Go to Settings, > vehicle, > Remote lock, unlock, start > Passsive Door Lock. Choose on or off.

I have always had the "auto-lock" feature turned off. I'll take a look at it again and see if the gremlin somehow switched it on...thanks for the suggestion...Ill look at it when I get home from work!
On exiting, if you press and hold the unlock button on the door and wait for it, you will get three beeps and the doors will not lock until the next time you start/stop.

You might not notice that Auto-Lock is on because if the FOB is within range the door will just open. Also the radio stays on after you shut the car off, this is normal behavior. The "remote not detected" message combined with all the other stuff seems like a FOB battery issue.
UPDATE TO MY ISSUE:
I picked up two new CR2032 batteries, one for each FOB, and changed them out. Problem resolved! Everything is back to normal! Thank you to everyone’s replies and suggestions. I’ll be changing out those pesky batteries every two years now. Luckily this happened while at home and not on a road trip somewhere. 🏎💨
I'm surprised how many fob and the main battery causes so many problems with the C7. Without CF i would have been oblivious to this given my previous cars.
Remember to change your smoke detector batteries too.

I keep a spare fob battery in the console.
You could also remove the spent battery from the fob and place the fob in the steering column (fob buttons facing up) to start the car and drive to where you need to go. You would just have to open the hatch using the key and pull the door unlatch cable to get in.

This is why I love the forum! I've read the owners manual cover to cover, and its probably in there, but I dont remember reading this little tidbit of information... Thanks c54U!!!
