Why would GM force owners to remove the entire front of the car to replace a bulb? Just doesn't makes sense to me, but I was slower than the other children.

And $300 for a lamp? I just bought 2 D3S 6000K lamps off eBay for $25. Are they name brands lamps? No, but does have a 2 yr warranty.
Sounds interesting. Could you provide a link to that video?

I replaced my bulbs with these. They are brighter and whiter than the stock bulbs but not into the blue spectrum. I really like them.

I see that they move the liner out of the way. I also believe I read on this forum that the access via that path did not allow you to disconnect and swap out the bulb. The bulb swap they show has the pod out of the car and that could just be to show the procedure to R/R the bulb.

My question: Has anyone on this forum confirmed that the bulb can be replaced through the fender liner access path? If yes, then the world has a new dawn and I don't have to drop the nose to swap out the bulbs. Seems to cause me a struggle that the Helms makes you pop the nose to get to the bulb when there is a shorter less intrusive way to get at the bulb.

Anyone swap out a bulb through the fender liner?

I thought I had read that information about the fender liner access. Thus my confusion...

Ah geez! Naturally I can't find the damn thing at the moment, but the process was the same as I did with our Cadillac. Take the wheel off, remove the perimeter screws, in the center of the inner fender is one of those "pull the center up and remove the fastener" things and wrestle with inner fender to get at sh*t. I'm pretty sure it was for a C7 vs C6, but I've gotta go through all this soon - D3S's just arrived, so I can update. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong - but if I'm right, might help people from tearing their cars apart.

I concede... Yeah, there's some kind of, what "looks" like a access hole for "something", but it can't be for the lamps. So I guess it's rip the front end off this weekend. Kind of a pita because of a ton of screws, but I doubt it's really that big of a deal.

As a preventive step, with the bumper removed, I replaced the driver side bulb at the same time, yep another $180

Good luck
Wow. The assembly took over 3 times as long? (based on $400 vs. $1350)

Adding your second bulb to the repair, over $2000 for a headlight that went out?

This is a good-old, American, GM vehicle, right? Not some exotic Lambo or Ferrari?

Wow.

Anyone have a photo and/or video of their headlight beam pattern (preferably at night)? Mine appears a little odd after the bulb swap.

Thanks......

So I've replaced both my lamps, but the one is still out, which leads me to believe its ballast is shot. Anyone has an OEM part number (for 2014, but sure they're all the same)? I've seen several now and GM Direct says # 22840414. Click on that link and it says it's not for my car. Great website (eyeroll).

And while I was reluctant to remove the bumper cover, it's not that bad. Just a lot of Torx, 7mm & 10mm screws.

LOL! Hardy... It was either do it myself or get hosed by a dealer. Considering GM wants approx. 10X the price for an OEM ballast, I'll try to do it myself.

Thank you, finally a response that seems to agree with my 'thinking'........ Now we'll see if the dealer will actually go back in and to it right....... Or I'll be left dismantling the bumper cover myself which apparently I might should have done in the first place. I'm so tired of paying for people to do things wrong (in all matters of life)............

"Now we'll see if the dealer will actually go back in and to it right..." Simply terrible and sorry this happened to you...because it shouldn't ! If you need any info regarding taking the front end off (there are YouTube vids as well), let me know. I just got through doing it and while it does take a little bit of time, it's pretty easy to do.

I'm guessing you need a lift to do it, or at least a set of ramps?

Well, you will need a floor jack (low profile) at least as the majority of screws are under / along the perimeter of the front end. Ramps? Yeah, they're nice, but somewhere around $400+ for the 2-pc "Race Ramps". To me, that is insanity - aka gouging. I made up some small ramp things - two "tiers" of 2 x 12's just to lift the car a tad and used a standard floor jack with a 3" x 3" piece of wood - as one of my "permanent" hockey pucks fell out & is gone forever.

There's a bunch of 7mm hex head screws along the front and 4-5 10mm bolts to take out back toward the oil pan. Can't remember the size, but there's 3 Torx head screws to take out in each of the front fender wells and one of those "pull up the center part and remove the fastener" things - whatever they're called.. Then open the hood - see those 2 small black pieces that run along the fenders that butt-up against the front end? Just give those a tug and they pop off. There's a couple of screws and a couple of those "pull up the center part and remove the fastener" things along the front edge of the hood. Now remove the sidelights. There's a thing - I think they're red - you pull back to unlock the connector to the sidelight. There's also 2, maybe three tabs that you just squeeze and the sidelight will come off. Now place an old blanket down to lay the bumper cover on.

At the very front of the fender is a metal "tab bracket" that has 2 tab-like things that fit into holes on the bumper cover, so you want to kinda pull up on the bumper cover up (from the fender wells) and try to get your hands inside, near the bottom of the headlight to pop those loose. Those are the only things holding the cover to the car - after all the screws are removed. I removed those brackets as it looked like it would interfere with getting the headlight assy. out - two 7mm screws. There is some adjustability to that bracket, so when putting it back on, just look at it straight on and put it's top in line with the bottom of the fender.

There's three screws (7mm?) that hold that headlight in place. Remove those and "Jimmy" the headlight out. On the back of the headlight assy. is a large grey-ish round thing - behind which is the lamp. Make sure to wear gloves when messing with the lamp - oils from your hands can trash it. I forget which way to turn it, but it should come off easily giving access to the headlamp - and you can see it it's seated correctly of not. You can also see a little triangular tab-thing that you squeeze to release the connector to the bulb should you need to do so. Also take note of the 2 x 2-1/2" (?) metal "block" that's screwed to the headlight housing. That's the ballast - which may need to be replaced at some time, so just a head's up. After all that's done, put it back together.

Note that there's a cone shape part at the back of the headlight assy. that needs to fit into a hole - toward the fender. "Jimmy" the headlight back in place an perhaps push up on the bottom of the headlight to fit that cone into it's hole (That sounded weird). Replace the three screws that held the headlight assy. and screw on the "tab bracket" thing I mentioned above. Line up your bumper cover - the "tab brackets" with the bumper cover holes and push down. It'll snap into place. Snap your sidelights back in place and reconnect the electrical fitting and push the "red" thing down. Lastly, replace all those damn screws, etc., and finally, the 2 black covers that are located under the hood.

Hope this helps.

Do you need to remove the bumper cover to replace the module.
