I pulled a rear wheel and noticed the scrap mark on my left rear shock. I have a 2015 Z51. I saw the same scrap on the other side. The pipe or bar or whatever that is is NOT in contact with the shock when jacked up by the corner.
It may not be rubbing when jacked up but it sure is when driving. If I can remember, ill take a look at mine and see if the line might be routed differently. In the meantime this thread may help you out https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ng-shocks.html

Interesting point.
If some part of the shock is rubbing on that line, the line itself should also show some evidence. Does OP have any pics of the other side of the line?
I notice also that the minor rubbing on the yellow shock body extends further around the circumference than would be done by just the line, though there may be two different rubbing issues involved.
A few interesting observations have been made, thanks! Next time I have the wheels off I'll look at the back side of the line for wear as well as move the "rubber churro looking thing on the right to the left".
I finally get your point. If that cylinder thing with fins does slide, my putting it on top of the bar it might pull the line away from the shock. I'll try that today, hopefully without removing wheels.
Never mind, not today. I have my car in for a rear end repair and the shop can't seem to match the paint color.
It doesn't look like the brake line would rub given this picture. But during cornering when the wheel is turned to the left or right and the suspension is compressed that the brake line is right up against the shock tube. I wouldn't really worry about it. Certainly the shock is fine as its just the paint that is worn. If anything, I'd be concerned about the brake line wearing through. I don't know what that little crimp is but it seems curious that it is right there in that spot maybe as a hose protector for when the hose rubs against the shock.
That picture is the back wheel...no turning left or right (at least you hope so..!!!)
It is the bottom edge of the black rubber shock boot that is wearing the paint....not the brake line. The brake line would leave a thin vertical wear line, not a wide area that follows the circumference of the shock body.
