Had mine done at an independent shop at 8k miles. Probably not needed as fluid looked good, but did it for peace of mind. Car had one abbreviated track day.
I did mine myself without any jacks or ramps and it was easy. I did use a swivel head ratchet. I had 1500 miles and had quite a build up of debris on plug. I was also almost a quart low. Put GM fluid back in. Good luck!!
My salesman recommended changing the rear diff at 1000 miles. Followed his advice. Fluid was silvery but not too bad. However, encountered under fill condition from the factory (frequent finding). Drained 74 oz and put in 85 oz. Easy job to do if you have access to the bottom of the car.
Also, had my A8 trans fluid triple flushed at 5000 miles when new fluid was released. Much smoother shifts.

Think you made a wise choice. I have done the same. I had to replace my OEM tires at 11,000 miles. I also updated my Navigation map. I too have a 19 GS. There have been too many road changes recently in my state so I thought it wise to do.
I ordered GM OEM diff fluid today, and went out and bought a 3/8" swivel head ratchet. Diff fluid was $16 / quart. I ordered GM part # 88862624, which contains a friction modifier. I changed the diff fluid in my C6 several years ago and it was a very easy job.
