I have seen some YouTube videos where guys changed their diff fluids relatively soon. (less than 5,000 miles) I'm curious how soon some of you changed yours.
I changed mine with a few thousand miles on it. It's fairly easy to do, just need a swivel head ratchet and a hand pump to push the new gear lube in. I believe there is a how to article in the How-To sticky section at the top of the C7 General forum.
For 30 years I have followed the service recommendations in the owner's manual. In that time I have amassed almost 900,000 miles in Corvettes - my '15 C7 had 96,000+ miles on it when I traded it for my '19)..... none of my cars ever suffered anything worse than a failed alternator - guess I forget to lube it, huh?
I followed the same recommendations on all the BMWs, MBs, Audis, and other cars too.... and, that's the procedure I follow for the Ferrari as well... must work, no?

Reason: clarification

First one at 500 miles. Next at 5K, next at 10K. I'm on my 3rd differential.
Does the service manual state it needs to be changed?
I have seen people say that the diff fluid from the factory is not good, but with no substantive or even objective data stating as to why it is not desired.
My car seems to shift and drive fine ('15 Z51 M7), but I do love maintenance stuff. (Did air filter today, cabin filter yesterday).
Even though I like it, yanking the fluid for no reason seems like a waste.
Any additional data or links would be great if anyone has any.

From the 2019 GS Owners Manual. Should be the same from 2014-2019
I've watched the YoutTube video when it was published... I didn't see anything that pointed to a knowledgeable person pointing out any issues with the OEM rear diff fluid.
Thanks for the reminder that it is in the service manual. I have been sticking to that manual to the "T". I will continue to do so.
Just did coolant swap, cabin and engine filter over the last couple days.
Some change it early, others don’t. Some track and some don’t. Many like to dump the dirty stuff out anyway.
Is it required like the Camaro track addendum? No, but still not a bad idea. I wouldn’t worry about it if you follow the manual but for me, I change early.
i also have a lift so these things are very easy and that factors into these types of decisions.
You don't need to put it on a lift. All you need is a hand jack, 2 race ramp, Corvette frame pucks (2), hand tools to remove plug, fluid transfer pump. All these, except the pucks, can be had at Harbor Freight.
I did mine this past Sunday while I changed out my exhaust to a Borla exhaust. My Vette only has 16,000 miles on it and the differential you would have thought it had 50,000 miles on it the way it looked.

Some forum members have stated that most of the junk found in the diff oil develops in the first 1000 miles during it's break in.
