I'm tired of crap sliding around in the trunk, I think the guys designing high speed rail could learn a thing or two about low coefficient of friction materials from GM's trunk design. So, anybody find something they're happy with that can solve this problem? Anything from a rubber mat to some sort of compartment design -- must work with the top in the trunk.
Cargo net works great for me. Generally if things are not going to fit there or are risky if they slide go in a different vehicle.
Not interested in cargo nets. More interested in something like the weathertech or Lloyd's mat. Cant have a case of beer slide around and break back there .

I also have a mat and it helps but is not super effective. Cargo net that comes with the car actually works very well (including for cases of beer) and is relatively unobtrusive.

I have a Lloyds cargo mat and the Exotic Vette coupe partition and I really try not to load up the cargo area in fear of stuff flying around when taking corners as there have been times I forgot about the items in the rear hatch.
I try to use the GM cargo net for individual bottles, cases, etc., however I also if driving solo, I use the front passenger footwell as well. I had a Weathertech trunk mat in daily driver business sedan and thought the plastic only made things slide around even more, although it had a raised lip in case any liquids spilled.
If I know I am going for a beer or alcohol run, I will take my C5 convertible as the smaller trunk prevents the cargo from flying around.
Different vehicle for hauling "stuff" works for me. On the other hand I've had to drive slower if the cargo is going to shift around. My Lloyds cargo mat is of some benefit.
Sorry, but that pic looks like what a city slicker thinks is the epitome of "Living off the grid."
Seriously. Like who would place 5 pieces of firewood in that? Placed neatly next to one package which will slide to the other side of the trunk by the time they get home.
