Default Using a battery tender

Has anyone used a battery tender via the socket (cigarette light type) in the rear compartment? 2019 2LT.

It can be altered to work as well.

However, there's no need to activate it, when the rear plug is more convenient.

You mean you can plug this into a 110 volt outlet .Run the line power line into the rear section closing the hatch
and plug the tender into the back rear compartment .

Have had my GS plugged in for almost 4 years with charger that came with it whenever it's not being driven and original Delco battery has never given me an issue and plan to get another year or two out of it.
You can close your hatch/trunk lid on the cord, I just choose not to.

The rear socket is designed for use with the battery tender. Works great and much easier than trying to use the alligator clips on the battery terminals.

I have been doing the same thing. On my 13 GS the port in the console was active and I ran the cord under the door. With my 19 GS I run it to the trunk port and leave the trunk open.

How many use surge strips, between their tender and 110 plug in?

Or you can not close the hatch all the way.

I know of none but I think I know one who is considering it.

Most outlets in garage are on ground fault . I guess more protection wouldn't be a bad idea
The more you add the circuit the greater problems you could have .Like tripping .loose connections etc.
In a lighting storm for instance you would be protected .Ground fault would protect the people walking around with wet feet.

A battery maintainer/charger is only pulling a few amps. You got a power strip plugged in a household 20 amp circuit. A maintainer will not trip a circuit breaker. It won't be an issue using a power strip to connect your maintainer if someone chooses to do so.

UPDATE

Went out to the garage and plugged in a power strip to the garage wall outlet. I then plugged in my CTEK charger/maintainer and it worked perfectly. House panel circuit breaker for garage did not trip.

I use some sort of surge-protector for all my electronic gadgets, including this one.

Why not? Ever had a lightning strike nearby?
