I really like the CTEK chargers/tenders. I have one for my C5 that I connect in the engine compartment using their Comfort Connect that stays attached to the battery and one for my C7Z that I connect to the battery using the power outlet adaptor in the rear hatch. I mounted both to the walls in my garage which makes it super easy to connect.
I would be careful using CTEK tenders. I advise using NOCO instead. They have a built in surge protector.
Nonsense. CTEK is the preferred battery charger for some of the most prestigious automotive brands in the world: Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley Motors, Scania AB, BMW, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Chevrolet (Corvette), Ferrari, Alfa Romeo S.p.A., Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH, Aston Martin, Arctic Cat, Yamaha Motor Company, Maserati, Mercedes, and more all use CTEK chargers and all have business partnerships with CTEK. CTEK manufactures the highest rated battery chargers in the world and has won numerous automotive industry awards for their products. The electronics systems you will find in these automobiles are very expensive and complex. I don't think these elite automotive elite manufacturers would partner with CTEK and run the risk of damaging the electronics in their production vehicles if they thought for one moment CTEK products present a risk to their vehicle's electronics which. Warranty claims, if electronic damages ever occurred in these vehicles, would be quite expensive. CTEK's relationship with these automobile manufacturers is an indication of the trust and confidence these elite manufacturers have using CTEK products.
The chances of a NOKO battery charger surviving an electrical surge is slim to none. Go to the NOKO website and search for inherent surge protection incorporated by their products and you will find their is no mention their units provide surge protection nor warrant damages due to electrical surges. Also, please list the names of NOKO's business partners that support and use their products. Let's see what corporate support NOKO has in the automotive industry.
My definition of low amp is 1 to 2.5 to 3amp for a battery maintainer. The low amp is recommended by most battery manufacturers for maximum battery life. The CTEK as well as some other maintainers are NOT trickle chargers, they are smart maintainers that “pulse” the battery to determine charge level and only add charge when appropriate. Their maintainers are recommended by many of the most prestigious models on the road today (a dare included in the optional Corvette battery protection package.
Smart chargers also pulse the battery periodically to desulfate a battery that has been left in a state of charge less than full charge, a battery that is overcharged, and a battery stored above 75* for an extended period. Some sulfation is reversible, some is not. A smart maintainer will help remove some of the sulfation.
My previous post refers to vented batteries on some late model Vettes not other vehicles. I have owned five generations of Vettes from C2 to C7, and have never had a dead battery as I have always used the best maintainer (not a trickle charger) I could find. This has been two CTEK models since 1998. I have never had a CTEK take longer than 6 to 8 hours to fully restore the battery charge level even after sitting idle several weeks without a maintainer connected.
Feel free reed to use anything you want to charge / maintain your battery. Me, I’ll stick to what the experts recommend. My grandad would be proud I used my common sense.
I am using a CTEK 7002 and it can charge using as high as 7 amps. It gets very high marks from many automotive industry types that have numerous reviews of automotive, marine, and truck chargers. Very impressive products they manufacture. I also have a Corvette CTEK which if I can recall is charge rated at something like 3 amps. Love these units. Once you use them you'll never go back. Not a big fan of trickle chargers or Deltran. Schumacher gets poor reviews too.
