Why not go with someone who does it for a living. Safelite does a excellent job.
Because they use junk glass.
I had mine done at the dealership, had the dealer order OEM glass and they had thier glass guy come by and change it out. The dealer was about half of what Safelite wanted for the same OEM glass.
Had mine done at the dealer. Good job except they forgot to clean the inside of it. Didn't see it until I turned into the sun. Was told they ordered the OEM for the HUD because there is a difference in the glass.

I have had Safelite install two windshields in two different Vettes. Both times I ordered the OEM glass. I had to pay a little more, but I got the OEM glass. They did a nice job installing the glass.

No, Safelite doesn't use junk glass. If they did USAA wouldn't recommend them. I've had windshields replaced by Safelite on a C4, C6, CTS-V, and a C7....

Around here, the dealers do not do their own glass installs - they subcontract out to a local glass installer. Perhaps in your area the dealership does do their own installs.
I bring it to my dealer who is the largest Corvette dealership in the Northwest. They order the windshield from GM then call in the same local auto glass company to install it.
2019 Stingray coupe 1lt: need to replace windshield. Need advice. Have it done wit dealership or local company?
Safelite is great but tell them you want GM windshield or your insurance will tell them to use aftermarket. They did mine and let me watch. They knew exactly how to do it and it is complicated. I was very happy with the job they did.

Really , have you bought JUNK from us .... or did u have a friend of a friend 🤔
Hope your dealer is using a certified installer.. what sealants did they use? What primer system was used. Did they wait for the proper flash times .... let me give you a cue , there are a lot of great independents but with a dealership it's all about price... not quality

I too used Safelite and highly recommend them. They ordered oem glass because I have
hud and did the install at my house. They sent two pros out and let me watch the install.
The guys were knowledgeable about Vettes, took their time and did a great job.

As if Safelite is a non profit company. I've used both but the OE glass is generally better.

Safelite told me the aftermarket didn’t fit as well. When it came in they found a little flaw showed it to me and ordered a new one. Because I had to make two trips they didn’t take my deductible and gave me a new set of wipers.
Please NO. The first question you want to ask your glass installer is what removal
method do they use : KNIVES or STRING. You do not want anybody using a blade
tool to remove your old glass! The pull string method is the smarter, safer way to
remove the old glass and most professional shops appear to be using it. This is
what Safelite used on my Vette and another vehicle.
Here are some tube videos I found of the string removal system:
