I have two C7's, both are 3LT and both have (had) dash issues. I did fine a really good place in the DFW area to fix the worse of the two; the dash was pulling away from the center vent and looked terrible!!

They replaced the leather with vinal; did an awesome job matching material....a little pricey but worth making it look like new ($2K)

Was super easy, the dealer was great, and although I've taken other Vettes there for service I have never purchased a car from them.
Have not gone to Frede yet, not sure I will, but did contact another dealer with no luck or support from GM. I did talk with my local independent guys and asked for details on the fix.
- Windshield comes out
- The upper dash is then peeled back and reglued and in some locations stapled to better secure the leather.
- everything remains inplace except speaker grills so the dash is not removed.

the shop has done this many times including other car brands. The problems occur when owner waited too long and the leather became brittle, had rips, or other surface issues. Mine have none of those we caught it early. So should be fairly clean reglue. I asked if anything else should be done when everything was apart- nothing unless I wanted to change panel colors which they have done several times.

If like most folks I do not like having an issue with my car not fixed so I am looking forward to getting it done soon. I don't like spending $1725 on a get it back to original but it is what it is!

Wow that's messed up JW but I hope they do a great job. Doesn't make sense as anyone contacting GM should get the same answer and support. Looks like it becomes more of a regional thing. As asked my dealer again about the low pricing to see if their dealership was just providing a better cost but they said no the price they gave one was directly from GM. I'll see what shows up as we're both going to inspect the dash pad before we set anything up. I'll send pics also as like you I don't like any issues not buttoned up on my car. Though as many cases as this generated GM should have recall fix.

There is a good tude on the revised GM dash after GM relized they screwed up. The guys I am going to use to fix it have described the fix as new glue, staples & RR the windshield.
I think part of the problem with 3LT and 3LZ is leather is a natural material and there are no two pieces exactly alike. so quality control putting it together must include worst possible quality leather. Plus Corvettes are not out in weather like regular cars. so many may have the problem but it will take longer to show up. I just wish GM would back their product better. There should be extended warranty on this issue to all 3LT/3LZ owners.

Just got my car back from repairing dash. 5 Star in League City Texas did job.
Removed and reinstalled windshield
reglued plus staples in existing dash material

looks great and did it over night.

They report a very common issue on C-7 and C-8. they have repaired dozens. Meant C6 not C8

Glad to hear it went well though shame GM didn't step up. They are for me but I'm still waiting for my part to arrive. They still haven't gotten it made and shipped. Post pics when you can.

This must have brought me good luck. Just heard from my dealer today that my dash is on the way. Can't wait and I'll post pics once it is completed.

WOW my new GM dash just came in. It is a much larger piece than I was expecting. Anyone considering a repair I would again reach out to a GM dealer to see what they can do for you. The replacement piece being installed in my car I LOVE way more than if I was to just repair the issue. Wasn't aware it has the piece between the blue section by the heads up display too. That part is bubbling on my car too but I thought that was a separate piece. It has more metal framing than I was expecting, also includes the back cavity for the touch screen. I feel much better on the price now that I saw what is being changed out. Wish I would have taking a picture as again you get a very large section.

Seems like it depends on the dealer and the State as I've seen all kinds of reports. Then what GM will paid towards it depends on the time between the expired warranty and the request. I'm also hearing on that front that some people are being rejected. Very fishy if Dealers are doing that as GM should handle every case the same. Anyway in my case the part was under $2600 and GM paid over 30% of the hit. I'm getting some pics of the part and will post it. To me I would rather get the huge new piece replaced than to take it to a shop for glue and staples for roughly the same cost (though talking just for me).

Reasonable ^^^^ 👍 Both getting it done as a complete unit do over @ a Chevrolet dealer, and, the co$t.

The variances of how this is treated by the dealers and GM when out-of-warranty sounds "discretionary " to me. If one Chevrolet dealer rejected my dash out-of-warranty. I would likely try more dealers until I could find one to take part of the $ hit, as yours did.👍

I inspected my dash yesterday - still perfect. My 2017 3lt was assembled in August 2016 in Bowling Green. 5.5 years ago...

So after 20+ years and 3 generations, GM still can't make a 3LT dash that doesn't bubble?
The fact that an outside shop is doing C8 repairs also suggests that GM is still refusing to warranty the problem.

Hoping the post I quoted has a typo and the C8 is actually doing better...

Never read of 3lt C8s having this issue on CF C8 Forum.

It is not "a very common issue reported." He didn't source it from the post you quoted from either. ^^^^

Just a few pics of the dash from GM, wow no way I would pay the same money for a repair to my existing dash. Also I was surprised how bad my section by my hud was. Nothing like the picture below. That alone was almost worth it for me. Good luck to all those out there that are still dealing with this issue. Anyone who gets push back from their dealers should try another place until you find one that will provide GM assistance in replacing the whole unit. Clearly GM is still offering some assistance with a issue that they should have recalled and fixed everyone of them from the start. Good luck.
