I'm hesitant to admit it, but that last line was funny (after replacing I with 1 as probably intended).

Agreed. It's been nice to see that people are acknowledging that it's not just the color of the wheel that matters, but also the color/application.

Old school/Old man? This is the kind of dumbass age related comment that pops up on this forum every so often. You need to decide what you want to be if you grow up.

In 90% of applications, including the OP's torch red C7 (and my own Watkins Glen Gray), I prefer black wheels. It flows with the accents all over the car...vents, side skirts, headlight housing, etc.

But on that black Z06 above, those silver wheels look perfect. I'm not a huge fan of chrome though.

Yep; silver painted, or polished aluminum, or chrome, for the contrast -

For me, the color of the car plays a roll as to which color wheels. The darker the car, the lighter the wheels. The lighter the car, the darker the wheels. Some can pull off either.

I have a white convertible with black (carbon flash) accents and thing the black (carbon flash) wheels go great with it. As for the black being "lost", all depends on the lighting.

I think if you didn't have red calipers the black wouldn't work. Caliper color plays a big factor also.

Yes, if you have black wheels I think it's important that a contrasting color for your calipers is a must.. to avoid the black hole look.
