heys guys who has the windrestrictor behind the seats , does it restrict you from being able to see out the rear view mirror, and is it legal to drive with the light on thanks Bill
I have a WindRestrictor on my verte - no lights or etching, just clear. At night, I get reflections of approaching lights in my rear view mirror. It was a bit unsettling and took a little getting used to. I would think that driving with an illuminated piece would make the mirror that much more difficult to use.
Can't speak for my C7, but have one on my Mercedes SLK. I have an etched design and it does affect visibility. Since my design is heavy etched in the middle, it hampers that direct view. But it doesn't take much head movement to alleviate. Mine is illuminated as well. No issue there. No legality issues either, AFAIK. It is a great, quality product. Still debating if I'll get one for my C7, but have loved it in the SLK
I have it and the reduced wind isn't really that substantial. Looking in the rear view mirror takes getting used to at night. I've driven with it lit up. Mines red. No big deal. Police leave me alone.
I had one in my 13 GS. It was etched and lighted. I wired it into the brake light harness so it was only on when I pressed the brake pedal. I did not have any visibility issues. I have owned my 19 GS for almost 4 years now and have not installed one. They do reduce some of the wind noise but not a massive amount.
I have a wind restrictor in my '17 GS convertible. Ditto on the comment regarding oncoming lights. I also get reflections of the highway lines ahead at night. Mine is clear with no lighting. All I see in the rearview is a line across the mirror, so rearward vision isn't significantly impaired. With the top down, there is a noticeable reduction in wind noise and my wife's hair isn't blowing all over. With the top down and windows up, we can speak in normal tones and the radio is very clear. I can even talk on the phone through the radio and conversation is only minorly impaired. No yelling required. I'm liking mine so far.
