This does not hurt the car, but prevents getting the most out of an AGM.

Just passed 8 years on the original battery in my 2015 convertible, still going strong with no indication of problems.

Just replaced the one in my 2015. I was worried that it was about to leave me stranded. Even after a long drive 50+ miles as soon as I would get home, I would connect the battery tender and it would take over 4 hours before the red light turned green. I checked the battery voltage with the engine off and it was 12.3 and running it was 13.8-14.2. So, I knew the alt. was working. Decided to just go ahead and replace it.

No, there is not one on my ‘15. It does have the manufacture date on the top 3-23-15. My car was delivered to me on 4-10-15.

Mine will be 7 years old in the Spring when the car comes out of storage. So I think for me its also time. I bought one of those 9V adapters you can plug into the 12V to hold whatever settings are retained by the battery. I keep hearing almost nothing will be deleted but the paranoid in me likes to feel secure.

Window Indexing and
Express-Up Reset
Window indexing may be required if
the vehicle battery has been
recharged or disconnected, or is not
working. Express-up and the
convertible top will not function until
the windows are reset. After battery
power is restored, a message or
code displays in the Driver
Information Center. See Driver
Information Center (DIC) on
page 5-23.
Once power is restored:
1. Close the doors.
2. Start the vehicle.
3. Hold the window switch up to the
fully closed position.

If you had your car battery replaced, please share how long it took and what did you do to convince to replace it? I made the mistake to get the 2021 Kona after they bought my 2019. The car would not go into drive after it is charged to 100%. The dealership said the battery needed to be replaced. It is sitting there since August 11th (more than 2 months now). They do not have batteries and cannot provide ETA. Between the monthly payments, the insurance and the registration for a brand new electric car I am spending a lot of money on a car I can't drive and don't even have in my possession. The dealership, the Hyundai Finance and the Hyundai Customer care all say there is nothing they could do and that I have to just wait until it is fixed. Any advice on what I can do is much appreciated.

old thread I know but I just replaced the battery in mine - didn't have the strap talked about here so I ran a piece of insulated wire under the battery (there's a recess) and made a loop to lift it.
It was still a pain in my opinion. The replacement battery DID have a handle and I left it on there. BTW 4years and the OEM battery was starting sluggish sometimes, that's why I replaced it.

The OEM battery on my 2016 C7 passed away after 7 years. Not too bad and it served me well.
I purchased a Diehard Gold / Part Number: 48H6 from Advance Auto Parts. Cost was $214.
Recommended replacement specs for a C7 are at least 615 Cold Cranking Amps.
This new Diehard exceeds the requirements at 730 Cold Cranking Amps.

The replacement was somewhat easy except trying to remove the old battery from the deep well. No handle.

The usual minor replacement issues I encountered were:
o Horn alarm blaring when connecting the new battery
o Windows needed re-indexing
o Programmed radio stations were deleted
o The clock date/time had to be reset
o No tire pressure readings (however, the tire pressure readout eventually returned after driving around for a while)

The two important tips I can pass along are:
1) Be sure to remove the small plastic plug located on the right side of the old battery. It's needed for the new battery
2) Don't forget to reattach the small black PVC vent tube on the left side of the new battery

If you do not have the handles put a vice grip wrench on each of the posts and lift out the battery. A battery strap will also enable you to pull the battery. If you have a check engine light unhook the positive battery cable for a few minutes and reconnect it. I am not a mechanic and it really wasn't that difficult to change the battery. As far as the windows and the radio that part was an easy fix. I don't remember even having to re-index the windows. I did go with an AGM battery too. My battery was good but about 4 years old and I changed it because I didn't know how old it was but was able to find a date on it. I keep the old maintainer on it and will put it in my boat when that battery goes bad.

Here is a very helpful video on the installation:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RlnDbsuvZk&t=1048s

Here is the Costco listing for the battery (delivered):

https://tires.costco.ca/Batteries/SearchResultsByVehicle?lang=en-ca&batteryType=Automotive&Year=2017&Make =Chevrolet&Model=Corvette&Engine=V8-6.2L-Gas~V8-6.2L-Gaz

Besides being superior to the OEM battery, this AGM battery is much easier to work with. The Energizer has built-in handles which facilitates lifting in and out. Worth noting is the rubber venting hose which fits into the side of the battery and exits at the battery compartment floor. It should be removed from the battery prior to lifting the battery. It has a right angle elbow which is easily broken. (I know).

Costco gives you $10 for returning the old battery.

Do you always keep it on a tender when not using the car? My Battery is almost 7 years old. Always on tender. Thinking of changing it soon. It is still in good shape when load tested. Just don't want to get stranded.

There's a new post where I said "now past 9 years on original battery" and NO not always on a tender. Having worked on cars my whole life I believe the battery will give you "warnings" when it's getting ready to die "ie - slow starts". But I also think you need to do what ever makes you the most comfortable. I have been gone on over 30 days of vacation with no tender and the car has started right up with no problems.

My 2019 had an AGM replacement battery in it when I bought it. It lasted 6 months and had a 1/22 date sticker. I just replaced it with a standard flooded cell. Perhaps it was a bad battery to begin with or the AGM won’t last as long in a car designed for flooded cell or a little of both. Here is the battery I removed.
