Well my battery died on my 2015 C7 so time to replace it. The disconnecting is very easy and reconnecting should be easy too and only take a few minutes….if I can ever get the battery out!!!! I could only find one set of vicegrips and know I have 2 others around somewhere….I am just going to pick up a battery carrier when I get the new battery….will do that after I get the blood transfusion at the hospital from all the scratches and scrapes on my arm.

and also….only had the one vicegrip and it came off when trying to lift the battery out and somehow got underneath the old battery and of course I can’t get to it now….yes I am having a good day

Almost made 10 years on my battery! My car has 40,000 miles and my car was built April 2015. Battery gave up first of the year. Picked up a AGM battery at Walmart. Make sure you get the nut on the positive side tightened down good or it will act funny. I haven’t had the trouble but I read about it. A buddy called me and he had trouble. I told him to check and he retightened and it worked great. It feels like it’s tight but it’s not!

Auto parts stores have battery straps for lifting batteries using the top posts. Use one hand to lift and the other to tilt the top forward and to the left to clear the interior trunk trim. It is not a straight lift upward as you have discovered.

More importantly, that starter cable lug after the 350A fuse must be carefully aligned within the gated slot or a poor connection will result no matter how tight you torque the nut. Been there and done that error as so many others have done as well.

I lost all my car stats, such as my best MPG. Got to 35 one time on a road trip. Bummed its not stored on the car anymore.

The important memory that is lost would be all the emission monitors.

One way around this is to have a 12 volt power supply (or 9 volt battery) connected to the power port in the trunk while the main battery is being replaced.

A inline fuse would not be a bad idea but really not needed on a 9 volt battery.

I modified a 12 volt power supply 'brick' and added a diode inline to prevent reverse current.

Jacob,
Are there any torque values for the battery post and auxliary connections listed somewhere on the forum or do you happen to have them?

Has anyone actually tried this? Sounds like a good idea to keep from having to re-index windows and the top on a convertible. A jump box plugged into the power port and put off to the side should be easy to do. If it works with no issues, you think it would be a recommended practice.

Funny you should mention that....picked up a top post carrier when I got the battery and no problems lifting out...gotta tip it just right to clear though.
Got the battery installed and just a few things were working...checked battery connections and THOUGHT it was good. Sitting in the drivers seat and thought maybe I need to shut the door and that might help...top and windows were up and as soon as I shut the door I knew what I just did...30 minutes later I finally got a window down far enough to climb out.

After that I came in and checked this forum and luckily I saw the post about making sure the positive post nut was completely seated and I tightened it down securely and most things worked but still missing a few options so I removed the cables and touched them together for a couple of minutes, hooked back up, and everything seems to be working fine now.

Did you forget about or not know there is a Manuel DOOR RELEASE near you left leg (driver) at the floor?
