Sometimes it doesn't even require the actual Vette. I had a sticker on my rusting SUV which said "My Other Car is a Corvette Z06" and a truck guy noticed that and blasted past me.
My favorite is when a guy several car lengths ahead spies you in his mirror and suddenly takes off. Can't thank 'em enough for going and making sure there are no radar traps ahead. Who needs Waze?

I haven't driven my C7 enough to get any of this attention, and my Audi doesn't get any (with 430hp and AWD it'll surely surprise some), but in the past my bright yellow VFR800 triggered a few. Who in their right mind, on four wheels, would challenge a sportbike (even a slow one like mine) ??
It rarely happens, but I love revving up the car at the stop light and pretend like I'm going to race. Then it turns green and I gradually take off while the other guy guns it like an a-hole. Great times.
So what you are saying in so many words is that you live in a Red-Neck community where one would typically expect the behavior you are asking about.
I believe some (not necessarily you) parade their Corvettes around demonstrating a "look at me" attitude which sometimes draws this type of behavior from others.
Not just because of my Corvette or my “ look at me “ attitude but even if I was driving a Camaro, Challenger, Mustang or similar vehicle in these neighborhoods that’s considered to invitation of a challenge on the road.
I mean I need to get out of the town to enjoy my car and no matter which direction I drive, it’s inevitable to come across hundreds of other people from mine or neighboring towns in these type of cars and considering the “challenge” is a type of weekend fun!
If I lived in Carmel or San Francisco I may be invited to a nearby bar to have a martini maybe but not in my neighborhood!

It happens to me throughout the summer, the most obnoxious ones are pick ups. Sometimes sports bikes and sometimes ricers. Mustangs never, they are usually owned by older mature men. A few times while I'm going slow on the highway some ricer came up to bother me to race, they couldn't understand I was busy looking at the sunset.
My first Corvette in 65 years.
So, those of you who are long time Corvette owners possibly get used to this by now but it is new to me.
It seems like every Dick & Jane who watched too many Fast & Furious movies think they should be racing when they see a Corvette on the road.
I am tired of ignoring people coming alongside of my car and revving and then taking off for 100 yards or so and then slowing down for me to catch up and repeat until they realize I am not in the racing mood on a public road with other traffic around us. Even guys driving a Van or a beaten up Honda Civic etc.
Today I was on highway 99 towards Fresno, CA which is 60 miles away from where I live and an Acura sedan was on my tail when quite busy traffic was moving at 65-70 mph. He was one minute next to me, one minute behind me. Staying 50 yards back and then approaching to my tail like a lightning bolt and slowing down suddenly as if I was blocking his way when both lanes filled with cars and trucks and everybody moving the same speed.
Do you guys have to deal with this kind of attitude often?
Call 911 and give them the lowdown on his erratic and dangerous driving along with your location and his plate number. demand that a cop intercept this jerk.
If it was me I'd pull up to him with my ccw pointed at his head and then pull away
I ended up racing a middle-aged couple in an older Porsche on my first day of Z06 ownership. Obviously, they lost. But we were both having fun. They were laughing and waving when they passed me later down the road.
Other than that, I think thats the only time anyone's wanted to race me (besides my cuz with a ZL1). But I'm usually a maniac myself so maybe I just don't notice other traffic trying to pull up on me. lol
I normally don't have an issue with people trying to race me. But I do get the occasional diesel truck that cuts in front of me in town and tries to cover me in smoke. They never follow me out of town though...

I get it most days and my car is stock with just a pulled fuse. Houston is full of idiots on the road. People get excited when I downshift and want to start something.

This seems a little excessive. I'm assuming this is sarcasm since the OP is likely the one causing everyone to whiz by him as he's doing 25mp under the speed limit on a single lane road.
