On the C7 GS & Z06 it's a 5 minute process. Very simple. You literally just screw it into the front receiver and for the rear there's a small plastic piece in the bumper cover you pop out with a trim tool before screwing the rear hook in place.

I suppose you can screw it on for a race, depending on how often you race. Every week, I'd leave it on. Once a year, put it on PRN.

On our 2017 Z51, there is a small piece in the grill that covers the front receiver and must be popped out, takes about 10 seconds. Rear bumper has the same small plastic piece as the GS/Z06.
I've heard rumors that some of the Z51's made before 2017 may not have one or both of the receivers, but haven't looked at other cars to see.
