I've got a 2019 3LT and I've read so many posts here about owners disliking their C7 sound systems. I think it sounds great. In fact it sounds better than the other vehicles I own or have owned recently. What vehicles are dissatisfied owners comparing their Bose systems to that they like better? I currently have a 22 Lexus IS350 with the upgraded Mark Levinson system and it doesn't sound nearly as deep or good as the Bose. I also own a Silverado, not as a good. My wife's top of the line Highland, not as good. My recent GMC Canyon Denali, not as good. My friends Mustang and Jeep Renegade, not as good. Even a friends Mercedes doesn't sound better. So what's better?
Sound quality is very subjective. What sounds good to one person sounds like crap to another. From what I have seen most people don't like pure sounds they like what would show up on an instrument as distorted sounds. The depth, detail and other factors they talk about relate to distortions. When the vacuum tube electric guitars were introduced musicians wanted to make their music loud so they overdrive the amplifiers which resulted in severely distorted music as the amplifiers clipped the tops and bottoms of the sound sine waves which generated lots of harmonics.
Look at the people who set their systems up to emphasize the base tones in a musical number. A lot of the original music didn't sound like that when it was recorded. The original artists and composers didn't want the singers and other instruments drowned out by a huge helping of the base tones.
