Default Front Tag Holder

I'm the new owner of a 2014 Corvette Stingray convertible. Also live in a state that requires a front license plate. This car does not have a bracket for the front tag. I know there are at least several options. I'm looking for one that doesn't require any modifications, is unobtrusive, easy to install and won't break the bank. Suggestions? Thanks!

I recently put the OEM plate holder on my 2016 Z06, it attaches without drilling and fits great

If you go to a Chevy dealer to order one, DO NOT ask for a license plate bracket. You'll receive the ugly, obtrusive piece that extends over the bumper cover a bit, and will mar the finish.

The piece that Joe is showing is casually called an aeroplate. I don't know it's official GM name.

Check out the pics and part #'s below - - -

This is the aeroplate that you want, part # 22830069.

This is the license plate bracket that you do not want, part # 23111885.

This is the back of the aeroplate, showing the cutouts on the sides where it straddles the bar through the middle of your grille.

License plate bracket on top; aeroplate on bottom.

You'll need two of these expandable fasteners, part # 23129614, easily available on ebay.

You definitely need the aero plate holder that GM has. Follows the contours of the front fascia.

Just installed the Aeroplate 22830069 on my 14 Stingray. It’s perfect. It was about $50. I bought mine on Ebay along with the special screw connectors ( genuine GM aeroplate retainers 2 for 13.99) sold separately. I will take a photo in a bit and post it. I had to watch the proper YouTube video to see how the retainers worked.

Thanks to all for your replies! Special thanks to "Catfish4818" for the photos and detailed explanation about the aeroplate - was not familiar with it vs the original that came with these cars. This is my sixth Corvette but the first of the modern era. Previously had a '61, '62, '76, '77 and years later a '79 (all used). Only had this one for a few weeks and due to inclimate weather and muddy roads, have taken it out only once. But what a difference!

Beautiful car that drives, handles and rides wonderfully. LOML and I are looking forward to the upcoming summer season!

TW

P.S. 2014 Stingray, Crystal Claret Tintcoat with Kalahari interior and matching convertible top; 3LT trim, 8K miles.

Don't even use a front plate. Most police depts will not pull you over just for not having one. Now if they get you for something else then yes they will ticket you. I will just say that the front was scraped and the license plate bracket is on order. I see so many cars in the Hudson Valley of new york state that have no front plate. And it's not just specialty vehicles, it's Kias , Hyundai's and other run of the mill vehicles. Just my 2 cents.

Does that Aeroplate fit the Z06 grill as well? I'm seeing conflicting information from the parts fiche.

Hmm...that I do not know.

So I went to this thread of Z06 pics to see if I could find any - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...re-thread.html

When I saw there are 203 pages of threads, I got the shakes, and backed out. If you have the patience and fortitude to scroll through, you might find your answer.

I found what I was looking for. There is a lot of information out there, and a lot of it is incorrect.

I just wouldn't run it. My state requires one and they will only use it as a reason to pull you over if you're already doing something stupid.

I agree, I've got one on my Mustang and it works great. For the Corvette, I was going to go this way, but I've decided to add a front splitter and I didn't want the plate mount that low, and I also wasn't confident that it would fit.
