Default Bumper separation ???

I’ve seen this on a few c7’s and was wondering if there’s a fix for it.
Separation from under the spoiler.

Just noticed that on mine too. Was wondering if there is a clip or something that came loose.

Seeing this thread had me worried about my car. Thankfully no sign of a problem. Not sure if there is any clip in that area.

Nope, there's no clip back there. They just do that. I had mine off for other reasons and tried to adjust the 3rd brake light housing as well as tighten things up. It's not as bad as before but after a track day, it still pops free. On the street it may actually stay in place so you could always give it a whirl. Pretty easy to take the bumper off.

i thought they used an adhesive to hold it together in that area.
I thought I read that on another thread. I’ll have to find it. I sent someone a message a while ago. But no response.

Found it. But it wasn’t the bumper that had adhesive. Was the spoiler.

If it's no worse than it appears (without being pried apart), I'd suggest some touch-up paint and wait to see if it gets worse.

And here’s another post from another forum so I’m adding the text. Not the link.

Okay, I'm in search of advice as to how to handle this warranty issue with my 2014 Z51 coupe. The rear bumper seems to have separated from the spoiler, I have attached a picture. You can probably fit 2 credit cards in between the gap which extends much of the middle of the bumper along the rear tail light. I have no idea how this happened, all I know is that every other C7 I've seen has a flush rear bumper. Needless to say, this annoys the living day lights out of me especially when you consider what I paid for this corvette. I brought it to my local Chevrolet dealer in hopes that it was a quick fix. Perhaps remove the spoiler and readjust. They called and said the car was ready, when I asked how it looked the representative said you can't see the gap....BS!. They did nothing except put touch up paint over what looked like glue residue from the separation. At first the rep tried to pass it off as I may have been responsible for problem making outrageous claims like I (or someone else) pulled it out the rear bumper and also the car looks like it had been "compounded", I have NO idea WTF they were trying to pull, but it didn't work. In fact, the rep even seemed like what she was saying was total BS, maybe she was instructed by her manager to feed me some lines in hopes I bite. I demanded to speak with the manager. After he took a look he confirmed that it may be a defect in the molding (or something of that sort). Okay, so here's where it gets complicated...he said that this was out of their hands and that a GM rep would have to look at it and okay it for warranty repair. He continued to say that I would not like the repair since they will have to replace or repaint the bumper along with blend paint into the rear fenders to match. My corvette is immaculate and now it will have to undergo new parts and paint!?!? He threw out a number of the repair costing $3-$4K (warranty repair). Obviously, I am not going with a repaint, under no circumstances, I may as well kiss the resale of my Limerock green corvette out the window. It's a 7spd Z51 which also adds to the rarity of the Limerock green combo which who knows may fetch a premium when I sell it (which will not be for a very long time I love the car). But regardless, MSRP is over 70K and now I have a defective part (or whatever the problem is), that according to this dealer will require extensive body work. I said I wanted to pursue the GM rep. It's been 2 weeks and 2 phone calls on my end and nothing. I get the feeling I'm being blown off, that the dealer doesn't want to deal with it. However, if they do authorize the repair and it is a repaint or new body parts I'm not doing it. So do I have any recourse given the fact that if I go with the repair I'm losing thousands on the car's resale. Shouldn't I be compensated in some reasonable fashion? I was thinking of maybe bargaining for an extended GMPP warranty which is way less than $3-4K (I had one on my 2012 GS cost $1175 for a 4/32,000mile). Regardless it still doesn't make up for the defect as I'd rather have it repaired without these issues. Should I try another dealer, or does it matter since it's going to the GM rep? Am I off on this or do I have an point/argument? BTW this corvette is a 7/13 production date with the three front air dams IDK maybe early productions had some issues and maybe this is one of them? My rotors were warped and needed replacing after 5000 miles!

Thank you for any advice, Ben

Thanks looks like the same problem. Can't believe the other one about superglue and a stick between the bumper and a tree!

So this thread had me worried as well. I couldn't stand it so I had to go out and look for myself..
My rear bumper looks tight, and I now have something else to keep an eye on.

But thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Ha! Yep; there's this, and then there's the quarter glass weatherstrip tearing that was mentioned a couple of months back.

C7s are great cars for those of us anticipating whatever the next thing will be to fail.
