Default Need advice!

Hello! I'm shopping around for my 1st Corvette. Torn between the c6 and c7. I love that classic c6 look! However, the c7 interior has all the advanced features. I've test-driven both and still 50/50 with my decision.😡
Any advice on what to look for/expect?
I do know the c6 has 430hp, and the c7 has 455 to 460hp and I love them both.
I'm not ever going to a track, so I don't need any launch control or the highest top speed. But I do want to go around other vehicles and get to my point B fast.

My advice buy the nicest one you can find Gen 6 or 7 The C7 has a better front end the C6 has a better rear end. I like them all

How soon would you like to hear the word "OBSOLETE" or "No Longer Available" or words to that effect? The older the car, the sooner you hear it.

True... Some C7 parts are already being discontinued by GM.
I'd only buy a C6 Z06 or the C6 427 version. However the C7 is way more comfortable every day, & has some better modern comfort features. The seats are also much better.

I have had both. They are great cars and either one would be a great choice. Good luck with your decision.

Back in the day, when I had a 91 F-body,. by the 2000s, I was hearing more and more. When I got my C4 in 2004, or so, the joke was that as soon as the GM parts guy saw me, he would say "Oh, Oh!. Obsolete. Now what do you want?" and most of the time, he was right unless you count engine or transmission parts. For a long time, I bought MB because they could keep parts coming. Sure, it might not be on the shelf and it might be a month away from Germany in a dusty box but you could get it. Now they changed their business model like everyone else has. I kinda resigned to dumping the cars before they get to year 15. Audi, from what someone who worked with them told me, would plan for 12 years to make parts available. I don't find scrounging for used electronics fun nor do I like broken cars so probably not planning to keep any car that long.

I have a 2009 C6 and a 2016 C7. Both are great cars. There are numerous, reputable used corvette parts suppliers that can provide discontinued parts for the C6. You can't go wrong with either as long as you do your homework on each car so you know what you are buying.

From what you say here, you sound like you're leaning toward a C6. However, I opted NOT to get a C6, instead keeping my C5 (which I still have even after owning my C7 for 8 years, now). The C6 is simply a mild update of the C5, whereas the C7 is all new and as far as I can see a much better, rigid chassis. Though your call (of course), I'd recommend a C7 every time. Btw, I opted to pass on the C8, though I really looked forward to a mid-engine Vette. Since that's irrelevant here, I'll stop for now. All the best, in any event!

OTOH, a later model C8 isn't that bad an idea

If you're actually serious? The c6, is archaic. C7 blows em all away in EVERY WAY!😜🤪

In my humble opinion, the C6 is the better-looking car, if you need the tech, then the C7 is what you should go with

I previously owned a C6 Z51 for 14 years. I currently own a C7 Z06. Obviously, they're nothing alike. However, I can make some general comparisons between the C6 and C7 which may be helpful.

Most people will agree that the C7 is a more refined & sophisticated car than the C6 in every way.

With that being said, I feel that the C6 is a better looking car, especially from the rear. The C6 Z06 is one of the best-looking Corvettes ever, IMO. On the C7, I could do without the cheap plastic trim pieces & louvers. Although, the C7 interior is MUCH nicer than in the C6. For many, that's enough of a reason to by a C7.

The C6 engine and suspension have a more raw feel than the C7. I personally like those aspects of the C6 better. The engines in the C7 are smoother than in the C6; and are less muscle car sounding when you add an aftermaket exhaust. The C7's handle much better than the C6's. You have to really push a C7 hard before it feels like it's trying....especially in a GS or Z06. These are the same reasons why many of us prefer the C7 over the C8.

You ask this site what you want to buy and drive... A C6 or a C7?... Looking to ask a web site what Corvette to drive is odd to me. Should not one make that difficult choice oneself... after reading these here... What have y'all desided? I'm curious. 🥱

I'd buy the newest car I can afford that isn't new. Maybe a used C8?

Not sure what your budget is, but if you go C6 I would certainly recommend going with the Grand Sport. The widebody C6 is just a killer design and IMO a BIG improvement over the base car.

On the C7, I don't think the widebody does as much for it. Still looks good, for sure, but the base Stingray body looks fantastic too.

I had a C5 for over a dozen years. Loved it. But the C6 wasn't enough different to me and so I jumped to the C7 gen. No regrets at all.

Best of luck with your search!
