Like many car guys and Corvette Forum members, I perform all of my own maintenance and repairs and keep a detailed schedule for each car along with all receipts. No one will treat my cars as well as I do.
Interesting post about a CarFax Car Care App. I may look into that too.
What is so great about the Corvette community and of pretty much all car guys is that when a circumstance arises that I need assistance there are many who will help out and be as careful as I am. I have also reciprocated as often or more. There are several Corvette Forum members who have willingly extended a hand one who is a moderator and lives local to me.
There is a great satisfaction and sense of pride that I get by taking care of my cars as well as my house.
I think the VIS report will show maintenance performed by a Chevrolet service department.
Years ago, when I first bought my brand new 1978 C3, I used the auto hobby shop on the Air Force Base and changed my own oil.
Well, I don't have access to a lift anymore, so when it comes to changing my C7 oil...I use my Chevrolet dealer's service department for oil changes. There are 3 dealerships in my area, so I check for coupons or discounts on their websites... picking the best deal.
Also, they allow me to provide my own oil and filter, so I purchase these on Amazon and save $$ this way, too. The service departments will give a free multi-point inspection at the same time.
Can the oil be pulled out through the dipstick or does dry sump prohibit that?
No clue but I do know the wet sump will not allow that. I tried and got a quart of oil out before I was sucking air and I didn't want to try to force the tube down any further. Besides, what's the point of doing that? Unlike my MB and Audi cars, I have to do the filter from below. For the German stuff I have owned, it is a huge difference. You don't have to get dirty or jack up the car.
New C7 owner...do you perform your own oil changes or use a dealer so the records show up in Carfax?
I don't have a warranty so I don't have to prove service. Anyone buy a car from a dealer with all those scraps of paper in the glove box lately? AFAIK, they toss them away. If they don't, I sure would have to go through the paperwork to make sure to redact any identifying information. Unless I think selling private will net enough to cover the tax benefits, why would I bother to keep receipts in the glove box? Assuming the next buyer would really give me more money for the proof of service. Also assuming the next buyer thinks I am competent enough to do the job. Having bought my share of used cars and gone though them, I wouldn't be too sure of the PO's skills and determination to do a good job.

Exactly. My Explorer and my son’s WRX I do from the top. Filters are on the top. The Z4 doesn’t even have a stick, looks like I need those ramps if I am to do.
