I stopped by Rick Hendrick Chevy this morning because I had an appointment nearby and I went straight to the service dept. I asked for the price of a triple flush for a C7 A8 and the service writer said “right around a thousand dollars.”
I asked what happened and how did it jump from $599 in early 2024 to $1,000 now. He said the transmission fluid price has been increasing every month.

I am curious about the increase in price. Currently, your labor rate is $250. Maybe it was $220 and it went up to $250 this year. Quite a spike but OK. Fluid is $15.30 a quart and 24 quarts cost $367.20 and that is all we did. $1000 from $600 is about $400. So fluid went up from what to $367.20 again? $1000 plus I can see. Based on the numbers they gave me, $367.20 + $700 plus misc charges. Say 10% increase from last year and a half ago puts your bill at $969.48. You really believe fluid went up from $0 to $367.20? Service advisors is doing what they do. Make it up on the spot. That is why I don't listen to what they say.
FYI, the first level SA didn't even know the labor rate and had to ask the guy who knew the process.

I think my dealership is among the best and I have dealt with some rather deceitful ones. (One waxed up dry rotted tires so they looked almost new. Another switched a quality radio out of a new car and replaced it with crap while I was pushing hard for bargain.)
But now dealerships are forced to rely more on customer satisfaction scores and good reviews on Facebook, Yelp and Google. A dishonest service advisor can hurt a dealership’s reputation.
Did you notice easier shifts after you changed the transmission fluid/oil? I have 10,000 on my car, but I’m thinking about doing it. I think I would have to buy a pump first before I went to try to change it. It’s been a while since I’ve done this kind of work.
It did improve it slightly. I made the change more for longevity and heat management than anything else. I also installed an MGW Short Shifter which is what really made the difference. The tranny still balks in the 1 to 2 shift when cold, but the shift throw is much shorter and positive once warm.
