lol

It's funny how we all call them different names depending on geographical location.

I have no clue. A couple of the small ones outside of town do not have the speed humps, but all of them in town do.

I'm guessing it has to do with pedestrian traffic - slowing the cars down so walkers can get through the circle.

Not come to a completed stop and sit there

Sorry, off my soapbox........If a round-about is clear of all traffic, I don't see someone walking their dog around it, I admit I will go into F1 driving mode in the Vette
OH MAN. Stopping at a roundabout is common here too, as well as EVERY YIELD sign. OK, I am glad I am not the only one who needs to rant a bit at that....

I was in Iceland a few years ago, and almost never saw a STOP sign. They were all yield signs, and Icelanders handle roundabouts like they were choreographed. They just flow. If someone jumps a bit into it when they shouldn't, the car to the left just slows and generally doesn't make a big deal about it. Its fascinating to watch in action when it works.

As far as running them HOT, I have a double wide double set over the freeway near my house, and when it's clear, oh yeah it's fun.... 🏁
