Default Mufflers

Anthony, wish someone would fab a kit to replace the stock mufflers with a small muffler like a Borla 10" x 5" round, keeping the stock NPP tips.

I almost went with Burns stainless mufflers, only 5 lbs and Corsa tips .... but the cost took me out of the picture. That would be a nice set up, mufflers would weigh in around 10 lbs. each and you keep the AFM. The NPP would not be compatible unless you cut off the tips (weld them back onto the Burns) and only replace the mufflers. Then you keep the set up you have with a 5 lb muffler that is a straight through design. I ordered the b & b bullets, also thought that would be the closest thing to straight throughs without causing the CEL to light or affecting the smog testing.

Thanx for the great idea. Went to the Burns site. Can order their mufflers to spec. Probably will go this way, welding the stock tips on them and using the stock pipes as well. The sound will be better but not too loud, as I am retaining the stock manifolds, cats, and intermediate pipes.

If you go that route, let me know how it turns out. I almost wish I had done it, as this will reduce a lot of weight and increase performance. The Burns product is supposed to be very good.

Installed GT MAT sound deadening 10 lbs added. Net weight loss is about 42 lbs so far. Eventually I will change the rotors and tires to non runflats. This should drop about 12-14 lbs. per wheel.
I share your mission.

Your ARH mids are with or without cats? Which Braille did you get?

Mid lengths with high flow cats. The Braille is the 1321 or whatever the number is (can't remember) weight is 21 lbs. The LI was too much money, even at 9 lbs. The B & B bullets shed about 5 lbs aside over the stock mufflers and they sound great.
